💔 Rest in Peace, Sweet Maple 🍁
Last week, Maple was squeezed in to see the neurologist. He suspected either meningitis (possibly linked to her original head abscess) or hydrocephalus. She was started on antibiotics to treat the possible infection.
Two days later, Maple began to decline again — she couldn’t walk, and eventually lost control of her bladder. After consulting with the neurologist, she was started on steroids next.
Yesterday, Maple began having what appeared to be seizures, and by this morning, they were happening every few minutes. We rushed her to the ER vet, but it became clear that her tiny body had been through enough. 💔
Maple peacefully crossed the rainbow bridge this morning, wrapped in love, with one of our founders, Christa, right by her side. The vets assured us that this was the kindest, most compassionate choice we could make for her.
Maple suffered for most of her short life — she was only a baby, and she deserved so much more.
This is why it is so important to spay and neuter your pets — so kittens like Maple never have to be born just to suffer.
If you’d like to help with Maple’s medical expenses, any donations are deeply appreciated.

🌈 We love you, Maple. You didn’t deserve this — but you’ll always be loved and remembered. 🧡
