Got to go to the beach. If weather and time permits I'd like to go one more time before winter. I have not rode " Dw tweety " in 2 years. Like I rode her yesterday. I owned sire " GOLD BRUSH" producer of jumpers and dressage horses and we got a couple racehorses,by legendary " Broad Brush and dam " Golden larkspur by Awesome Again. Bred , raised trained by me . My racehorse with lippazan moves. Get it girl šŸ˜†. It was fun .
Gold brush " produced 2 fillies. I kept both . " Dw tweety " and the palomino " Dw champagne dreams " out of " Dw wild eyes " .Got speed ? Yes we do! Next year the palomino will be bred to " Huckleberry blue hayes " foal will be offered for sale in 2026.

I have this bit

I was sitting in the Chicago airport, waiting for the next ride to Calgary.

My phone buzzed with a Facebook notification and I remember feeling annoyed with myself as I mindlessly reached for it. Iā€™d been sitting in airports all day and truly, a few minutes without peering at that teeny, tiny little screen would do me good. Stillā€¦

The notification said that Al Dunning, NCHA Million Dollar Rider and one of my heroes in horsemanship, had a vintage bit for sale. Despite the fact that Iā€™d clicked on that same post a week earlier, I took another look, anyway. Iā€™ve long wanted a full silver overlay Visalia ā€˜humane bitā€™ with the polo mouthpiece, a classic that has so far eluded me. Do I need one? Not even for a minute. Did that stop me? Never.

Expecting this one particular bit to be sold, for it had garnered a lot of attention and comments, it was still sitting there. It was calling my name.

I reckon I was bored and needing a thrill but thisā€”THISā€”was one Iā€™d long been looking for. It had all the engraved overlay, the classic Schaezlein conchos. It had the mullened mouthpiece with the little low port and copper roller. It even had the original monel rein chains.

Sitting in that faraway airport, I clicked on ā€˜add to basketā€™. Just like that, the deed was done.

The bit arrived last week. Standing right at our rural mail box, I ripped open the package, like a small child. It was as beautiful as Iā€™d imagined, polished and perfectly patinaed, waiting to go on a special horse.

I selected a classic Victor headstall from the 1960s, an incredibly-wrought thing with all its turn-backs put to the outside, unusually, to where they can be seen but are away from the horse. The headstall is flat-rolled in a unique way and just so wondrously made. Surely, it would be worthy of the old Visalia.

Al Dunning writes that the bit was purchased in the 1960s and that the Visalia ā€˜humane bitā€™ became a cowhorse classic. I think he was familiar with Teeā€™s father, the great Prime Time Chex, a NRHA World Reining Champion and AQHA Superior Reining Horseā€¦ and so, it seemed fitting that Tee would be the first of my horses to wear the bit, to try it out.

I bridled my dear, doe-eyed horse and he rolled the cricket contemplatively, as all good bridle horses do.

ā€œWhat do you think, Tee?ā€ I asked him. ā€œIs there any magic in it?ā€

The old gelding shook his head with bored disinterest. Heā€™s packed just about everything from a bosal, to a snaffle, to a spade, to a neck rope. I mounted up and we headed out, just walking, jogging and loping along.

Itā€™s a nice bit and Iā€™m so pleased to add it to my collection.

Tee says he prefers his trusty, rusty old 7-shank, though, and this made me smile. Our horses will tell us, every single time. They donā€™t have their heads turned by a bunch of old silver, or a sought-after nameā€¦

The Visalia has a unique soundā€”thereā€™s a little video in the commentsā€”that reminds me of the beautiful pleasure horses lined up in my youth, all rolling their crickets after a job well done. Pure nostalgia, it recalls the generations of workaday horses who wore these bits over the years, along with the weathered hands that once held their reins.

My breeding program. I held back the fillies for 10 years from " Tdl man ole man " old proven hall of fame blood. Dam " merril lass s.i. 114 .
I was out to buy his sire who is deceased. Years go by . I was offered this guy . He had the papers of what you absolutely do not find . Old proven hall of fame blood. I took a chance to see if he could do what I hoped for. First crop hit the ground outstanding! He's a keeper. I crossed him on the last 2 daughters of " Ole man maxmillion " .
Ole man maxmillion " out of " Ole man Roy " named after " Roy Browning " from Roy Browning ranches who owned " The ole man " only horse as of 1998 who had 3 superiors race , halter and performance. After that I never checked. One superior great , 3 unheard of .They owned " The ole man " Quarter History" and " Jet on " . I seen " ole man Roy " while going through horseshoing school in Lafayette Georgia and all I could think of is " that's a dragon! Biggest AQHA I've ever laid eyes on in my life. Absolutely outstanding individual. I had to have a foal. I made a offer on " ole man maxmillion " and I got laughed at by the whole school. You can't afford to own that horse.
" ole man maxmillion " Blondy's dude bottom side , short he took after his dam she was a red dun and short , typy and exquisite, beautiful baby doll head huge eyes you could see the Arabian traits . All horses except maybe 10% trace to Arabians. Dirty good looks he had , he was described as smooth " your eye just rolled off of him .
So I crossed " ole man maxmillion " daughters on " Tdl man ole man " then I searched for mass to bring back the height the bone crossed on my refined dirty good looks .
That is " Huckleberry blu hayes " the foals you see now . He is also a keeper knocking it out of the ball park. I have my herd where I want it to be . From here on out the foals are for sale. Long road ' again conformation i know. I watched my boss line up 9 , 10 world champion halter horses and pick them apart infront of college vetranarian students. They are multi champion Title holders. WORLD TITLE HOLDERS, Pick their conformation apart . Jaw dropping experience first time i seen this . There is no perfect horse . I would breed this to that to improve this or that. I absorbed this like a sponge and i applied their knowledge to what im doing . I don't have their $ but i have their knowledge. When you know better you do better. Dreamweaver Quarterhorses & Thoroughbreds

This was my horse . AQHA stallion " ole man maxmillion " corner stone of my breeding " R.I.P. : max or bugga butt. I kept buying the new flavor in stallions. Owning 9 from race to rope . I kept pushing him back. He outproduced all of them with exstreme intelligence and dirty good looks. So i searched 10 years to find another " The ole man lines " Tdl man ole man " held back the fillies for 10 years ....then i bought my blue roan stallion " Huckleberry blu hayes " to cross on them. I bred him to 2 mares prepared to geld and down the road. Is he going to do what i exspect to see ? I want conformation. That is the only thing as a breeder we have to insure a long healthy life on a foal. Color is icing on the cake. It means nothing just pretty and thats as far as it goes. Ill pick extreme intelligence over pretty any day . This stallion showed me how intelligent horses really are . The stories i could tell you , so i searched and searched 10 years not just any horse will do . Lots of boxes to check. " Tdl man ole man " dam merril lass s.i. 114 done what i wanted him to do . Conformation hard knockers, exstreme intelligence! What im breeding, where im going with this is a long road. And i dont believe in breeding horses just to breed horses. No is in my vocabulary your horse is a d**k and doesn't need bred makes people mad . Because i know conformation i can not cross that line . You know better you do better. Long damn road. have 2 daughters left " ole evening wind storm " and " The ole mans queen " everything got " ole" in registration before we went to " Dw " for Dreamweaver Quarterhorses & Thoroughbreds . This was my last ride on max . Max I was offered 65k for while training at a saddlebred barn at 8 months. I got fired from the saddlebred barn when their client contacted me , we shipped the intire herd to Germany. All but " ole man maxmillion " he was even stolen from me once.
Cornerstone of my breeding " ole man maxmillion " I trained him haven't rode him in 2 years 2 bulls and a steer went threw our fences ,neighbors fences ,couldn't catch them on foot ,quads ,get your horse! Packed my English saddle out there in my fancy pink tennis shoes and put that steer and two bulls in a trailer in a open field. I have 2 daughters left. " ole evening wind storm " and The ole mans queen. Grandsire of the c**t with the ball, you teach them once. Exstreme intelligence, dirty good looks and conformation. We don't produce alot we are focused on quality over quanity

Alot of effort goes into filling the barn for winter. And like anything it turns into who do you know. I appreciate the fact my husband knows who he knows. Trying to line up everything .. simi 's etc ..long damn way to haul alfalfa. We put up grasshay truck in alfalfa, squeeze guy .. no we are very picky about who we work for .. oh " Doug he's a good guy , yes we been to your place before sure what do you need ? Goes to show you treat people the way you want to be treated and it does come back to you. Always does.
Majority of my summer is consumed by hay .
So you want to be a rancher do ya now? šŸ˜†
I watch people enjoy the summer and I think what does that actually mean? Summer means you put up hay and can't wait for winter when your in bed by 8 . That's what summer means to me . Way its always been. Doesn't bother me because thats what i do . Im glad i can. I'm outside where i belong. Your not going to see what i see by sitting in the house . Watch sun rise , fall , wildlife, animals... i choose it because its quiet . Horses , animals to me are my soul. They give me what i cant get from a human. Can't exsplain it . And yes hay its hard but what isn't? Can't beat the view .
Summer you prepare for winter. After hay it's firewood.
As I look at the work we do, you do know there will come a time when you can't. So always enjoy the view because you don't get it back.

My friend shared this . This is the arena I started my journey in . Where I learned to ride , show etc.i was in 4-h . I made it to state every year but couldn't afford to go . Did not own a horse trailer had to borrow a saddle for a jumping class stacked 6,7 saddle pads under it. My pony beat all of them. I wanted to be a horse trainer when i grew up . That determination took me to train for the top in the Arabian industry. Imperial Egyptian stud and Arabco. Head of the training barns. Training horses for movie stars and kings. Letter of recommendation. A poverty stricken child who couldn't afford anything this arena was my world . My saving grace .
This arena was donated by Don Jackson. The intire fairgrounds. Racetrack all of it . In Grant's pass Oregon. Later in life I galloped racehorses for Don Jackson at his ranch " the flying lark " in Murphy Oregon. It is also the VERY SAME ARENA IM PUTTING UP . life is bizarre is it not ? Think about this how a arena impacts so many lives for the better in so many ways ! Never heard of anyone not having a good time in a arena! Think about how one building, one person made a impact on so many people in so many ways for the better. Think about that . And that is why I'm so focused on building what im building. Seems crazy to some people but I can't exsplain it in words . I'm not a writer. I'm a show you person. I'll show you how to do something, I can exsplain it . Write it no . That is the reason I sell my horses. The reason for everything I do . I got 2 more to move then I jump back into the work force chasing the dollar so I can sink alot more $ into my giant facility I'm building. I'm not made of $ . And I have done everything the hard way because I took on something I can't afford. 100x200 indoor arena. Today not possible, tomorrow possible. I will make it happen one way or another, so I can give back what was given to me " the world of horses "
We owe gratitude and appreciation to Don Jackson " I hope the hard core business man , boy howdy was he hard is smiling from above ! I know he is . Impacts generation after generation for the better that's what a arena does.

Things people say about horses always cracks me up . It's kinda like politics, they hear something then they repeat it until everyone believes it's a fact . This line is known for bucking ! Music mount , That breed is known for crazy . Off the track Thoroughbreds are , arabians are . ...
I'm calling all of it B.S . It's all in the handling of a animal. The dummy on the other end of the rope . Horses don't know what breed they are . Yes im speaking from knowledge, because ive trained alot of different breeds and disciplines. Hanovarians, arabians, national show horses, road horses we called standabreds , Morgan, Thoroughbreds, AQHA, appy , mustang on and on . I ride train saddleseat , huntseat and western. Trained cart . We called them buggy horses. Endurance 100 mile in Dubai for Shiek Mohammed. " makour " came in second. Racehorses for Tim Disney and Don Jackson at the flying lark , i try to write this and i forget half of what ive actually accomplished. Trained , conditioned Patrick Swayze first c**t out of Tammen for the World Paris show. Bonus checks every time my horses won , horses going everywhere with over 700 world class Arabians and national show horses it was super busy . Qualified " Dirty rotten scoundrel " for u.s nationals 5 days i had to get her broke and in the ring. Day #5 she popped a lead with Todd wyrick aboard and took second. That was my job . Quick run down how a horse worked and into the ring they went .Horses winning overseas and the u.s . The u.s Olympic team bought a horse i trained for a lesson horse. " nawlins " i sold her for $400 and a diamond ring .less than a week later they sold her to the U.s Olympic team. I was training for Imperial Egyptian stud " i didn't have time for her and they pushed me until i sold her .. so anyway ill call that as my horse was sold to the U.S Olympic team because i trained her .
Alot of knowledge and skills under my belt however I don't come off like a know it all because nobody does . Nobody. Trained horses for movie stars and kings letter of recommendation.
People make things so complicated and it's not . None of it is , if it's exsplained to you correctly. Just because you read something or heard something and you repeat it doesn't make it a fact. Pictured is sire to this year's foal crop " Huckleberry blu hayes " I was told he's 94% foundation. Neither here or there to me I want correct conformation! That is the only thing that insures a long healthy life . As a breeder I owe it to the horse to improve the lines . Reason I focus on quality over quanity.
Conformation then papers or vice versa but not one without the other. Color is the icing on the cake and this boy has knocked it out of the ball park! Eye appeal for days .
I was told by Fred Mclaughlin cutting horse trainer saddle maker; if you go through a barn a row of stalls and you walk by ; it's just a horse.
However if you stop and stare your on to something. I have the stop and stare horses .
I don't want what everyone has, I want rare gems. Quality over quanity! Dreamweaver Quarterhorses & Thoroughbreds

Rules of life are very simple " you don't want it done to you , don't do it to someone else* 2016 was the last time we owned cows . Sold the bulls put the steer in the freezer. Until i can take the time to build a fence i have no right owning animals i cant keep in . I have no right making my headaches my neighbors headaches , so i don't own cows .
Cornerstone of my breeding " ole man maxmillion " I trained him haven't rode him in 2 years 2 bulls and a steer went threw our fences ,neighbors fences ,couldn't catch them on foot ,quads ,get your horse! People ask me why I don't run cows ? I'd love to run cows but cows won't stay in a hotwire. Power gets taken out , fence gets knocked down by wildlife then you get to chase them. No . Fence first then you add cows. Not vice versa. My horses get out they go to the barn and stand in the arena. They have no reason to go anywhere. Cows are knot heads . It takes a serious fence. I don't like headaches I don't like drama. Some day when I can afford to build a fence I'll have cows , not until then. Responsibility. Animals are a responsibility.
