Ariens made a snowblower drive wheel system for a short period of time where a trigger lever on the left side handle bar will engage both wheels together or disengage the left wheel when one wheel drive is needed such as making a zero degree turn at the end of the driveway easier without wrestling with a 200+lb machine.

The ratchet mechanism is often overlooked by technicians to be serviced. Corrosion prevents the components (axle splines specifically) from moving freely which can stop the left wheel from locking together with the right. It makes it very difficult to push snow straight with only one wheel spinning!

Hey Everyone!

Thank you all for helping us to stay busy! We are currently booking out repairs on snowblowers for the new year so please contact us now if you want to get on the schedule.

We are seeing common issues related to stale fuel being left from last season clogging up the carburetor causing the engine not to start or run very poorly.

You can avoid this by draining your fuel tank/carburetor bowl of old fuel before storing it dry. You can also run the tank dry, refill it with ethanol free fuel, run it for a few minutes and then store it. Save your money on fuel additives/stabilizers. They DO NOT prevent/fix these issues.

Other more serious issues we have seen are not using the correct shear bolt for the auger rake but instead a standard grade 5 hardware store bolt. The shear pins are just that. They shear/break off when you hit something hard like ice or concrete so you do not damage more expensive parts. A hardware store bolt will BEND but NOT BREAK causing major damage to the mechanical parts. These repairs are very costly to fix.

Sometimes replacing a transmission belt is not as easy as it sounds. On some tractors it requires almost complete disassembly of the machine down to the frame rails. This machine needed a new belt and repair to the damaged transmission fan.

Hey Everyone!

As we enter into the beginning of September, that means peak hurricane season. Time to check your generators! It's been very quiet here in CT as we have not gotten a large storm that has knocked out power to a large area in some time. Best to be prepared just in case!

Check to make sure your generator is ready to go. Start it up, run it for about 30 minutes with a load on it like a space heater or some lights. If the power goes out, you know its ready to keep your food cold, and keep you from being in the dark!

Gasoline does not store well beyond 30 days, even with fuel additives. This is the #1 cause for generators to not start. You may want to consider converting your generator to run on propane instead. You can use the same tank on your BBQ grill! Propane is clean, stores well no carburetor clogging, and typically easier to obtain during outage when fuel stations don't have electricity to pump gasoline.

As we head toward September, now is a great time to get your equipment scheduled for repair before the fall time!

There has been a lot of rain and erosion this season. Rocks, tree roots and other obstacles in the lawn that were once buried have likely been brought to the surface and are at risk of you hitting it with the lawn mower!

When you hit something hard with your lawn mower, it can bend the blade as well as cause significant mechanical damage to your machine and its engine. Often times the extent of the damage is not seen until you start disassembling the components.

Welcome Sierra to the S & G Pet Care pack! This beautiful tripod girl comes from a wonderful rescue called Perfect Imperfections here in Watertown. (Please consider following them if you don't do so already!) This girl has seen the worst side of humanity and now she is experiencing the best of it at home with her new family. We are so blessed to have been involved in the process and the weekday care of this sweet girl. She is already settling in and loving her new brother and sister!
