Painted Pony Pastures was started in Palm City, FL in 2007. For our first rescue we traded a pick-up truck for a pregnant paint mare and her companion mini mare from a dirt yard, both seriously underweight. We have accepted many horses since then, most, but not all of them, are retired event horses, neglected or unwanted horses, horses with chronic health issues or injuries. We are dedicated to caring for and loving these wonderful animals so that they can spend the rest of their lives just being happy horses.
We have always financed the rescue ourselves; however, since we’ve both retired and in our 70s, we find we now need some assistance.
We are in need of some volunteers in the Ocala area to help work with and groom the horses. We are also seeking a person to work part-time helping with the barn chores, mending fences, dragging and mowing the fields. This is a paid position. Volunteers, please call 772-678-9000.
