A PSA for all Pet Parents 🐾🙏🐾

Retractable leashes are not as safe or secure as regular ones.
Please know that if you use a retractable leash, your pet is at higher risk of getting loose (if you drop the leash), and also running away (scared by the bouncing, dragging leash behind them). In addition, retractables give so little control or connection to your animal - it's as if they are just wandering around out there away from you, whereas a dog on a 5' leash will be right beside you.
There is also a big problem with other dogs when we see someone with a retractable. Many times they fail to reel their dog in, the leash jams, or they are unable to get control of a hyper or scared animal which is jumping around wildly 10'-15' away. 🙁 if you're not sure we are right about this, PLEASE Google "are retractable leashes safe" and see what you find.
