Walking your dog and encountering Wildlife in Utah
Utah is a great state to enjoy a wide variety of outdoor activities. Sometimes those activities
can bring us into close encounters with Utah’s varied wildlife. Typical wildlife in the Wasatch
region and Northern Utah could include snakes {including rattlesnakes}, deer, moose, bear,
mountain lions, skunks and porcupines.
Tips for wildlife encounters:
Stay alert and aware
Stay calm and do not run
Pick up small children and pets
Appear as big and loud as possible
Stomp your feet and clap your hands
Shout loudly
Do not turn your back, face the animal and walk backwards slowly

May 13th - General Meeting and Elections

Dear Club Members,

We are excited to announce our upcoming General Meeting, which will be held at Sand Ridge Park, 2645 Church Street in Layton on Tuesday, May 13th from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM. This meeting is an important event where we will conduct our yearly Board Member elections. You have the option to cast your votes in person during the meeting or conveniently vote online.

Following the elections, we will embark on our Fit Dog Pack Walk—a fun and engaging activity for all members and their canine companions! To track your Fit Dog progress, you can download the Fit Dog pdf form on the website.

We look forward to seeing you at Sand Ridge Park for an evening of community, engagement, and enjoyment. Don't miss out on this chance to be part of our club’s initiatives and activities!

At this evening’s general meeting we learned about what to pack in a pet emergency kit and pet CPR. Hopefully, you never need these skills, but being prepared with a go kit for your best friend is never a bad idea. GSDOC has openings available in the following classes and registration is still open for them. Please note some classes are being held on Sundays.

CGC has 5 openings
CGC Prep for Challenging Dogs has 6 openings
Competitive Obedience has 1 opening
Conformation has 5 openings
Intro to Dog Sports has 4 openings
Sport Puppy has 3 openings
Star Puppy has 3 openings

Congratulations to all of our GSDOC winners in our trial last weekend!

Thanks to everyone who came to get their photo with Mrs. Claus and Rudolph! Please feel free to tag yourselves in the photos.

We collected 130 cans of dog and cat food and 95 lbs. of dog and cat bagged food. We also received almost $200 in donations to support Street Dawg Crew. It's not too late to pitch in if you haven't already. Bring your pet food or donations to any class on Tuesday, November 19th or 26th from 6-8:30 p.m. You can also contact me at 801-389-1328 to arrange for pick up. Happy holidays!
