Horse people, 4-H kids, anyone alike!

Putting feelers out to do a simple day clinic for anyone interested in gaining more depth in working with their horse. This is anything from groundwork to riding. If you would be interested or have any ideas, let me know!

I want to start small, so this clinic would be on a weekday- likely an evening at my arena in Pettisville, Ohio, at a discounted price.

I will only be taking 5-10 students. This is a way to learn how to work better with your horse and understand how to become a better team. This will NOT be a specific discipline, because I believe all horses should be able to do basic fundamentals. If you want a specific discipline clinic- please message me privately and we can make something work.

Please send ideas of what YOU would want to learn! Again- anything with groundwork, riding exercises and training things I do, or specific problems. Beginner or advanced! Bring them my way!

This horse is teaching me.

HR Daisy May (Daisy) was the first horse Sarah and I have done literally everything with. We bought her as a 3 yr old and broke her out. She went to college with us where Sarah did tons of reining foundational work on her. She rides bridleless and has every button and body movement down. Sarah did an amazing job. Because of this - she teaches me, as I teach her how to barrel race. She’s a sensitive horse, which is great, because she’s been telling me what I am doing wrong with my body, and I LOVE IT! She has no idea what she’s doing in the barrel pen, but she knows how to listen to my body. Together we’re working on becoming a barrel racing team, and I’m super excited to get her going this summer. - Thank you Sarah for letting me use her!

My point with this is if you take your time, and teach your young ones all the foundational work, the barrel racing will come. Or any discipline for that matter. The first show she went to (with a “we have an extra spot in the trailer, throw her on” mindset) she was 1 second off, with a handful of times patterning it in her life.

It wasn’t because she knew the pattern, it was because she knew how to listen to my body.

This is how we train the young ones at EjB Horsemanship, if they don’t know the foundations, they won’t know how to listen to you.

In addition to this - you’ve never done it long enough to stop learning more about the horses you ride!

Thank you Oh So Special Touch for the awesome pictures of her 4th race! 🤩

➡️ Starting in APRIL!

✨Learn to work WITH your horse!

⚡️Your place or mine!

Basic horsemanship skills have been lost in the equine industry. There’s so much more to horses than jumping on and riding.

How is your horse on the ground? Do they respect you and your space? Do they know how to keep calm in an uncomfortable situation?

⚡️ᴛʜᴇ ʜᴏʀsᴇ ʏᴏᴜ ʜᴀᴠᴇ ᴏɴ ᴛʜᴇ ɢʀᴏᴜɴᴅ ɪs ᴛʜᴇ sᴀᴍᴇ ʜᴏʀsᴇ ᴡʜᴇɴ ʏᴏᴜ ᴊᴜᴍᴘ ɪɴ ᴛʜᴇ sᴀᴅᴅʟᴇ!⚡️

Do you know how your body is effecting your performance, no matter the discipline? Do you know how your horse should be collected, when asked? Do you know the best ways to enhance the mobility of your horse?

✨➡️ Schedule a lesson to learn how to work with your horse to achieve peak performance, no matter your discipline!

More opportunities coming to EjB Horsemanship this year, stay tuned! ⚡️

is looking for his ideal adopter!

A confident intermediate rider in the saddle but aware on the ground would be great for him! Ideally as a trail horse or backyard fun horse. He’s not fast, but he’ll try if you ask him.

He wants a job and someone to love. It takes a lot for him to be tired, so he can go forever. He’s become quite the love bug. Killian has been great for the farrier, good in stalls, will tie forever, good with baths, etc. He would prefer a pasture to himself unless he has a confident dominant horse with him, he’d take a pasture buddy.

PM for more questions or contact Heart of Phoenix Equine Rescue, INC if you’re interested in adopting this sweet boy!

As some may have known, I was blessed to be apart of The Horseman’s Mission c**t starting competition this year. It was one of the best experiences of my training career thus far and I’m so thankful for the opportunity. This was such a growing experience for not only my training but also myself as a whole. One of the best things for me aside of the competition was the atmosphere of the place as a whole. God was present and it was evident the competition was made in good intentions for growing the knowledge of the equine industry, on Gods foundation- you don’t get that much anymore.

I had a tough c**t, we took it day by day and by the end I made the decision to keep him in the round pen, as I didn’t feel he was ready to leave. Despite not getting out, I couldn’t have been more proud of where the c**t ended on day 3. Big thanks to my mom for being my pen wrangler and my family and friends for coming to support!

If you want to watch day 1 and 3 interviews after the c**t, here they are:
Day 1: https://youtu.be/w6ldANIlCO0?si=kONzk9YS4trI7PU9

If you’re interested in seeing a little bit of how my c**t starting is, here is the full 1.5hr of each day:
Day 2 and 3 have a little more talking and action. The first day it took me 1hr to catch the c**t, but day 3 you’ll see a change 🙂

Day 1:
I start at 1hr 52min; was 2nd to go.

Not necessarily the way I wanted to be in the competition, prayers for an effective surgery and fast recovery for Robert.

I haven’t and won’t have much time to prepare for this so it makes me nervous but I’m excited to see what the Lord does through it. If all else, it’ll be a big learning opportunity!

Thank you The Horseman’s Mission for putting it on and asking me to be in it.

Hi, my name is Elizabeth Beck and I am 22 years old.
I grew up in the saddle and lived on a farm where we raised cattle and sheep. I was always stuck on a pony to help move the livestock and became glued to the saddle. I don’t remember a day I didn’t take off riding my pony. I started training ponies with my older sister when I was 7 and haven’t grown out of it. I was involved in 4-H and rodeo all throughout school, and got my degree in Equine Studies with an emphasis on training and management. I started my training business, EjB Horsemanship, in 2020 and have enjoyed all the horses that have come my way. I am thankful that God placed the passion of horses in me and I’m continually looking for ways to grow and learn more about them. I’m excited to be apart of this years Horseman’s Mission to be able to use it as an opportunity to grow and better myself.

Update on !

It’s been a crazy past few weeks, but, I was supper happy with the boy at the competition! With only 25 days under saddle, I was well pleased with how he handled himself. We ended 5th out of 6 and I was happy with that! He’s not a show horse, and he definitely showed that, he’s a trail guy, and that’s okay!!

After the competition he’s spend about 2 weeks just being a happy horse out in the pasture with a few buddies. He gained weight, and enjoyed just “being”.

Today I brought him up and saddled him and went out for a short ride to see where he was at with everything. To my surprise, he might have been better than the last ride at the competition that we had. He rolled out like an old pro. We just did some arena work, walk/trot/canter and he didn’t give any attitude or buck. I was very surprised and pleased with how he did. This guy is going to get 30 days of consistent work but he’ll be ready for someone, so if you’re intetested in adopting this big love bug, DM me and we can get your application in and you can come meet him!

Peep the first ATFO horse that landed with EjB Horsemanship!

Read this post if you wanted to apply but missed the deadline!! 💕

Hey all!

We have a large number of adoption returns due to economic and other situations, so we have more adoptable horses than we could have expected right now.

If you've applied to adopt in the last few months (or the last year) and your application fell through the cracks, please reach out to me! We can get your application in order in time to be able to adopt or bid at the Appalachian Trainer Face Off.

We've received more applications than ever before in the last 3 months, but many have stalled, and we want to be sure we give any good adopters a chance to provide a home to a horse this weekend and afterward.

Also, if you had hoped to apply but barely missed the deadline, please text me at 304-784-4061 to see if we can get your application done. Text me if your application somehow fell through the cracks.

3rd and final required post for !!

Wow… how this horse has changed! I look back from where he was and am surprised at where he is!

This last weekend was probably the biggest and best weekend I have had with him. I took him to a reining show to just “be”. His biggest fear being people, I figured it wouldn’t hurt for him to sit in a stall and watch people walk by 24/7. The first day I got there he walked off the trailer so chill, so I decided to go ride him in a large outdoor arena. He just walked around and saw all the sights. The following morning I got up earlier and rode again, working on random things but asking more from him. We continued working each day. He got time riding in an indoor arena with other horses, getting hosed in a place where I didn’t think he’d even walk in, and advanced his ridding skills with each ride that we had. I was surprised with how well he did. At the end of the show, the random snorting for no reason stopped, he laid down at night, and he began to be a people person wanting attention at the front of his stall. Thank you R6J leather for sponsoring his stall this past weekend!

The ATFO starts next weekend! How have we already gotten here!

If you have thought about adopting Killian, here are some things you need to know!

- He needs an intermediate to advanced horse person who is willing to work with a trainer (if they’re intermediate) but they really need solid horse sense. He’s not bad in the saddle, he’s more scared on the ground.
- With being scared of on the ground, he needs someone who pays attention to their surroundings, and know that he can make a fast move if something happens.
- They need to understand that he was feral less than 100 days ago, and there is a possibility he might turn to some feral things again, but if corrected in the right way, he will continue to move on in the right direction and will soon let go of his past life.
- Right now, Killian would best fit as a trail horse, or random arena work. He’s not an athletic guy, but he can work in an arena when asked.
- I think he’ll become a pretty sweet guy as time goes on, he just needs more time to realize what’s “normal” for us. He’s acclimated so well so far.
- More questions need answered? Message me or comment! Stay tuned for more things to be done before the ATFO!

Killian had the weekend off, and we came back to a nice ride #3 that looked like this.

How?

This is why the foundations are so important. Some horses take longer than others, and that’s okay. But if you take the time on your foundations, you need to trust that when they fall, that the foundations you placed will keep them good. Over 3/4 of his time with me Killian and I have been working on foundational aspects of training, trust, and the domestic life. Without that, we wouldn’t be here.

When we fall back, if we have our foundations on the word of God, we will be okay. You see things flourish when you place your foundation in the right things and prepare in the right ways. With that being said, you can’t prepare on the right foundation and stay at the foundation, you need to keep building. Place your foundation, create your foundation, and keep going, when you’re ready.

““Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.””
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7‬:‭24-27

This was a super enjoyable ride on and I think the trails will be where he excels. This boys is coming along.

I’m gonna be honest, this is Killian’s 2nd actual ride. We’ve done tons and tons of groundwork to be able to have a smooth ride like this. I’ve been so impressed with this horse.

has placed himself in some pretty vulnerable positions for me. He’s learned to trust that if I’m on top of him, he will be okay. If he’s laying down because I asked him, he will also be okay.

Jesus laid down his life for us. In return he asks us to love one another with a love so great that we’re willing to lay down our lives for another.

“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friend.”
John 15:13

Love is hard, and sometimes we don’t want to love when we should. But sometimes, we need to lay our own pride aside and be willing to love one another with the love Christ gave us.

Killian didn’t want to lay down, but I asked him, and he began to lay his pride down of being a strong, feral horse who thinks he can survive on his own, to making himself vulnerable to me. If that’s not a true act of pride being broken and trust being built, I don’t know what is.

Thank you American Animal Chiropractic, Dr. Michael Hollerbach for helping us be able to continue training!

Dr. Hollerbach did a phenomenal job on not only Killian but all the horses he did for me. He takes his time in assessing the horse before he begins and listens to the horse when enough is enough. I highly recommend Dr. Hollerbach for your personal (Anthony Wayne Community Chiropractic) and animal chiropractic!

had his first day off the farm! We trailered to some local trails and we’re out for 4 hours! He did SO good! He loaded right up in the trailer and didn’t hesitate getting back in to head home! Though I didn’t ride him there, he got all the sights by tagging along and did so well. I had him take a saddle and there was no hesitation saddling him up at the trailer and heading out. I was expecting him to be a little cold backed walking away from the trailer but he walked on out as if he’s done it 1000 times. I was so impressed and proud of him! He didn’t spook when my horse did, and is proving himself to be quite the boy. The scariest thing was watching and listening to other voices and horses pass, but that was just a head up and ears forward watch!

*2nd required post for

It’s been a wild ride, but it’s not over yet. Killian is learning. He’s coming around the bend. He’s officially been ridden! He enjoys his MagnaWave sessions. He’s slowly getting rid of his feral self and becoming a civil citizen.

Just like people, horses can change. But it doesn’t mean they won’t slip on their old habits. We just need the right people and mentors around us to keep us going in the right direction. God calls on us to love others and help them go in the right way, just as I need to love and help Killian go in the right way.

“My brothers, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring him back, remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of his way will save him from death and cover over a multitude of sins.”
James 5:19-20

More updates coming soon, but for now here’s a few pictures from the last few weeks of Killian’s journey to civilization.

This boy is slowly stealing my heart. He’s got a kind heart when he remembers he’s not feral anymore… which means he rarely doesn’t have a kind heart.🩵

Killian is not an athletic boy, but he’s got a heart that wants to love. At the rate he’s going, he will need an advanced horseman who wants a sweet hearted horse of their own.

*Required Post #1*

is slowly but surely coming around the bend!

Killian sometimes forgets he’s feral and he likes the attention, but then remembers he’s feral and can go back to being a little dramatic. 🙂

Despite his occasional feral dramatic self, Killian is starting to gain personality. He’s a curious boy. I think once his trust is gained and he’s around the domestic life more, he will be a horse that will be pretty go with the flow.

I’m excited to see where he will be at the end of the 100 days. There’s no promises, but I’m optimistic with where he can be. The domestic life is hard for him, but he’s slowly calming down and chilling out.

He’s continuing to learn lunging, standing, saddling, bridling, desensitizing, brushing, picking feet, flyspray, and other normal horse things!

Oh! And he’s starting to love those kisses 😉

What changed?

I’ll tell you. These pictures will tell you.

Sometimes we forget that our horses don’t always want to work with us. Sometimes they just want to simply be with us. No work, just time.

This is exactly what Killian needed to turn the page. All he had when I was with him was pressure to perform and answer my questions right.

This day, he had his first bath, and we went out and simply spent time together. Instead of asking the pressured questions, he asked “am I allowed to relax, let my guard down, and eat next to you?” The answer was of course, “yes”.

I tried every treat in the book with this horse, but he wouldn’t take anything from my hand. No carrots, apples, different horse treats, or even grain. But this day, he took alfalfa. I guess that’s the food to this boys heart. 🙂

He’s slowly coming around the bend, and trust is slowly being built. I’m excited to see where this boy can go.

In my walk with Christ, sometimes instead of trying to figure out what He wants me to do in a difficult situation, or the next step, I need to just be and spend time with him. Ask him if I can let my guard down, and simply be, the answer will always be yes.

Matthew 11:28-30
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

I have been very unsure of how to write this post. I’m really proud of this horse. I didn’t know if I would truly be able to see this day.

I’m reminded that God works in ways we don’t see, His timing is perfect, and He provides the pieces we need to get to where we need to be.

Killian, for one day, brought all his walls down. I hope to keep tearing walls down. He’s got a good heart, but he’s still scared and wants to defend himself. But he’s learning to work through it and give himself to me.

It makes me think just how God works in us and through us. The hard things in our life get so much easier when we simply surrender and give ourselves to the Lord.

Psalm 37:5-6
“Commit your ways to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun.”

Have you ever had someone try to help you and you don’t think you really need it? You say, “I don’t need you to help me, I can figure this out on my own.”

During one of the hardest times of my life, I said this to some of the people closest to me. They chose to help in a way I didn’t want, at the time. But it changed my life around for the better. God used them to get to me.

That’s what happened when I was working with Killian. He’s still in his attacking phase, and I went to put him in the round pen when one of the horses opened the sliding door and came in as I was working with him. Expecting it to be a disaster, I stepped out of the way and let the horses do their thing. But what really happened was something I couldn’t have planned.

The other horse claimed dominance and they buddied up. I worked with both of them, and the other horse taught him some of the ropes. The starting of round penning with boundaries. The other horse brought a sense of comfort to Killian and I was able to work with him more. Just having another horse in there with him calmed his nerves, and allowed me to work with him more.

Sometimes people come into our life to help, we just don’t see it right away. God is always looking out for you and will place people in your life that are needed.

“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”
- Proverbs‬ ‭27‬:‭17‬ ‭

Killian is in search of sponsors for a few things, here is his Amazon list, or the funds to purchase things outside of his Amazon list would also be greatly appreciated!

I remember I was living the ideal life. Or what I thought. Being “free,” doing whatever I wanted, living outside of boundaries. Then… my life got wrecked and all I kept asking was “God, why me and why now?” I was mad at God, confused, and hurt. Just to find out I was living a life of lies, I thought it was good, I thought I was living THE life. I’m glad God wrecked me. Because my life has been SO much better since. He showed me the goodness in boundaries, the goodness in structure, and the goodness in following Him.

I feel as though is in the middle of his “God, why me and why now” phase. He was “free” with no boundaries, living the dream as an Appalachian Brumby stallion roaming the eastern Kentucky strip mines…so he thought. Here I came, and wrecked his life. He’s mad, he’s hurt, and he’s afraid to trust me. He’s finally come to a point of letting me touch and scratch him. But he’s very okay with attempting to attack. Most of my nights are spent sitting next to him, and petting when I can. He needs boundaries. He needs love and he needs tough love. But don’t we all when we fall astray and need someone to help guide us back?

“If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you.” Matthew 18:15
