I decided to use my down time for something useful. In addition to being a member of Pet Sitters International, I took the extra step to get certified. What does this mean? PSI provides me with endless resources and continuing education to help me stay on top of my game and further my knowledge of pet care. I’m also part of a pet care community that shares stories, tips, and advice so we can all keep growing our businesses. The certification means that I studied materials to make sure I know the basics of how to be a good pet care provider.

In other words, I am not a “hobby” sitter. I love what I do and I love my clients and that means I will continue to learn so I can always be the best care taker for your fur babies. Next up, refreshing my vet tech knowledge by taking a first aid/cpcr class. Then on to Fear Free Certification. Because your babies deserve the best. 😉

Hello my lovely clients and friends! I’m here to share some news. Unfortunately yours truly is finally having a much needed surgery to repair a torn tendon in my hip on November 1. I will likely be on crutches for six weeks and unable to walk dogs for 2-3 months. My first and biggest fear was “what are my clients going to do?!” Lucky for me, my incredible assistant, Jaime, is stepping up to the challenge and will be covering my regulars while I’m recovering. That being said, if you have pet care needs for November or December, let us know asap! Jaime is already booked for overnights for Christmas and New Year’s but is available for Thanksgiving, and as always, dropins can almost always be accommodated. And since a couple people have already asked, yes we are taking bookings for 2025. We already have several so book us as soon as you know your travel plans! Pic of my almost birthday girl for attention.

Since everyone here is an animal lover I’m hoping someone can help me find this girl a home! This is Lily, a 12 week old shih tzu pup looking for her furever home! She is cuddly and friendly with all people and other dogs. She is an alpha female despite her tiny size. She shows her brother who’s boss. 😂 She is not AKC registered but is a full breed so current owner is asking $500 for her. She’s currently working on potty training and is getting better every day! If you or anyone you know is interested in this super sweet, super cute baby, let me know!

Happy May, my friends. It’s feeling like summer today which means I’m here to remind you to not wait a minute longer to book your pet care for your summer vacations! I’ve already had to turn down a few people because Jaime and I are filling up! Come to think of it, you might as well book your fall and winter trips too to ensure your babies will be well taken care of while you’re gone! Also, because I have recently lost a few of my weekly regulars, I’m looking to fill a slot or two in the coveted “lunchtime” hours of my weekdays so if you’re in the Beavercreek area and want someone to check in on your babes while you work a long day, let me know! Or if you’re south of town, Jaime could help you out! This is a rare offer as everyone wants that midday time frame so I’m sure it will fill asap. Here’s my dear friend, Rosie, to give you something to smile about today.

It has been a rough couple of weeks in the pet care world. I have lost several clients, 3 of which have crossed the rainbow bridge. I have the most wonderful job in the world but it is truly heart breaking sometimes. While they all deserve their own post, I don’t want to blow up your feed so this will be one long post.
Nala: this one really broke me. She was a dear friend’s pup who I have had the pleasure of caring for dozens of times over the years. She was the sweetest love bug who gave the stinkiest kisses and snored like a grown man. She lived a great, long life and will be missed by many.
Mika: I only met Mika 4 months ago and she was already in somewhat poor health but she quickly declined over the past month. She was sweet and gentle and quiet. I feel privileged to have been trusted to help care for her at the end. She also lived a long, wonderful life with a mommy who went above and beyond to care for her.
Grace: she had an awful start to life, tortured by a group of kids. But she was rescued by two wonderful mommies who spoiled her rotten. She was just as sweet as can be and did the cutest howl when she wanted to play. I’ve been caring for her for years and she left us quickly without much warning. This was another heartbreaker.
May all these pups fly high and rest easy, without an ounce of pain. Until we meet again, sweet angel babies. Donation has been made in their memory to Highland County Humane Society, where our recent foster cat was from.

Did you know that 15 minutes of mental stimulation/sniffing is as tiring for a pup as an hour long walk? It’s a gross rainy day today so my buddy Maya and I went to Lowe’s and made friends and got lots of new sights and smells! I’m always happy to take your pup on an adventure if a walk isn’t in the cards.

Another one crosses the bridge. I only met sweet old Giz last year when she was already in terrible health, which is why I was needed for extra potty breaks. Despite not feeling well, She was so tolerant of me carrying her outside and changing her diaper. While I didn’t get a lot of snuggle time with her, she still managed to leave a paw print on my heart and I feel blessed to have been a part of her care in the last year of her life. I only wish I could have known her in her younger, healthier years. Fly high Giz, in a place free of pain and free of diapers. Your family misses you fiercely. 4/3/07-1/29/24. Donation made to the local schnauzer rescue in her honor.

As you can probably imagine, the hardest part of my job is losing a furry friend to the Rainbow Bridge. I get so invested and fall deeply in love with my clients and inevitably end up heartbroken when they pass. This year I’ve decided to try to make a little lemonade out of the sourest of lemons by making a donation to a local shelter or rescue in honor of each client of mine that passes in an effort to help save another animal. Sadly the first of the year has already happened. Oh sweet, precious Bean. She was the tiniest little love bug. I only knew her for about a year but she sure did leave a huge paw print on my heart. Even after I poked her for her insulin injections, she forgave me and provided me with snuggles and tiny kisses. She was loved fiercely by everyone who knew her and she will be missed tremendously. In her memory I have made a donation to Homeward Bound Animal Rescue. Hope you’re having a good ole time up there Be**er Weiner. Wish I could smooch your little face one more time.

Well 2023 will definitely be a year I will never forget. It was my first full year of having my own business and to say it exceeded my expectations would be an understatement. Never in my wildest dreams could I have conjured up the success I’ve found with something I created, and something that brings me so much joy on a daily basis. So if you’re reading this and you have patronized me or sent a client my way, I am eternally grateful for you being a part of making my dreams come true! I cannot wait to fall more in love with your fur babies in 2024! Now get your babes on my book because Jaime and I are booking up quickly! Photo of my nearly 18 year old immortal feline named Puppy. She will outlive us all.
