How to teach your dog ‘rear-end awareness.’ This skill is very useful. In our case- we want Willis to rotate and maintain his ‘heel’ position as we move our bodies.

Let’s watch Reishi become less reactive to the dog behind this fence ! Everyday on his walks, Reishi would find himself in a fence altercation with the dog that lives here. We are happy to say that Reishi can now walk past this house, no problem. His walks are much easier for his parents too. !! Reishi’s parents wanted him to be less reactive to one of the dogs in the neighborhood. Everyday on his walk, he would lunge at the dog through the fence. It was hard for his parents to break him away. His parents used the pointers I gave them to correct this behavior. Reishi can now stop next to the dogs fence and even sit or lay down in place without reacting ! Ironically, this Portuguese Water Dog was afraid of the Water until he came to see us at MDW. He’s all better now, in fact it’s become the place he loves to be most. 🌞✨

Piper (the puppy in this video) is a West Highland White Terrier. He’s less than a year old and has been receiving Training to correct Reactive Behaviors (amongst other things). This progress was awesome to see !
