The truth about many kibble dog foods is that they are not made with high-quality, real meat because of cost, shelf stability, and industry practices. Here’s the harsh reality:

1. Low-Cost Ingredients
• Many kibble brands use meat by-products or meat meals instead of whole cuts of meat. These by-products can include less desirable parts like organs, bones, and even slaughterhouse waste.
• Plant-based fillers like corn, soy, and wheat are added because they are cheaper than real meat, but they don’t provide the same nutritional value.

2. Rendered Meat

• Many large pet food companies prioritize profit margins over pet health. They market their food as “premium” while using low-quality ingredients to keep production costs down.

What This Means for Your Dog
• Over time, poor-quality kibble can contribute to health issues such as obesity, allergies, digestive problems, and even chronic diseases like kidney or liver problems.

What to Look For Instead
• Real Meat as the First Ingredient: High-quality kibble lists whole meats like chicken, beef, or salmon as the first ingredient.
• Grain-Free or Low-Filler Options: Avoid products with corn, soy, or wheat as primary ingredients.
• Transparent Labels: Brands that disclose all ingredients and avoid vague terms like “animal fat” or “meat by-product.”
