HUGE 𝙏𝙃𝘼𝙉𝙆 𝙔𝙊𝙐 to The Green Spot Omaha and all of their amazingly generous shoppers! They were able to raise $1,800 with their Holiday Giving Tree and then matched that for a total of $3,600 raised to assist in our foster dog funds! This is so generous and helpful for our rescue that hasn't been around for a whole year just yet and we can't thank everyone enough!

Our sweet Brooke came into rescue with a respiratory illness and has been fighting hard since. Brooke has seen our vet several times and several different medications and treatments have been tried as well with little to no improvement.

This morning Brooke was really struggling to breathe, so her amazing neonate foster rushed her into the vet. After various tests and x-rays, we learned that Brooke has pneumonia. Brooke stayed at the vet all day today so she could receive oxygen, nebulizer treatments, and other medications. She was then transferred to Urgent Pet Care to continue her care. Brooke will need oxygen, nebulizer treatments, and other meds for at least 48 hours. We hope that she will be well enough after that time to return to her foster home.

At this point, we are looking at a vet bill of at least $4,000 for her care. This is a hard hit as we are still recovering and fundraising from our recent Parvo bills.

Me? It’s my turn?! Ok, well my name is Bailey and I’m an American Bully born January 22, 2022. I’ve been floating around a few places, mostly here and there, but I seem to have landed in some sort of doggy paradise and I couldn’t be happier! When I’m not snuggling or chilling out with my foster humans, I enjoy showing off a little by “sitting” and “waiting”; I’ve also been known to only go potty outside which, from what I understand, is a huge bonus for me! Now don’t go thinking I’m some sort of perfect angel, I have this weird obsession with socks and I won’t hesitate to steal them right out of the basket and scatter them around the house. It’s really just my way of keeping my human’s brain sharp, kind of like a snuffle mat for people!

Anywho, I enjoy walking and have great manners on a leash. I also get along with kids and other dogs so a home with a pre-built family is something I could definitely get on board with. My name is Addi and I’m a Rat Terrier mix born in December 2013. If you’re looking for a mature, sophisticated lady to join your world you’ve come to the right place! Hello again, world! My name is Shaggy and I’m a 6-year-old shih-tzu/poodle mix. You may remember me from a while back when I made a check list of firsts that I’ve been accomplishing as a “breeder release” pup and I’m happy to report my list has grown by leaps and bounds! I’ve never been one to dwell on the past, and even though it’s tough trying new things I can officially say that I am completely house trained, love munching on freshly fallen snow, and can be trusted to stay out of my kennel even when my humans aren’t home! Those are some BIG accomplishments, am I right?!

I’m currently in my old man era, even though I’m not that old, which basically means I love to nap and grumble about napping when I’m not napping! I prefer to cuddle up with my trusted humans but am also content curling up in a warm sun spot on the carpet. I absolutely love to play with other dogs that are around my size and wouldn’t mind a fur sibling to spend my days with, although that’s not a requirement. I’m missing quite a few teeth so I prefer soft treats and I would like to find a home without many stairs since I can only handle about 3 before belching and giving up on the climb; told ya, old man era!

Training Tip Tuesday 🤩

At Bullies-N-Beyond ResQ, we recommend the use of Positive Reinforcement Dog Training, also known as R+. We believe that Positive Reinforcement Dog Training is the best way to create a happy and loving relationship with your dog!

Positive Reinforcement Dog Training uses concepts that the most current science on dog brains tell us work and are scientifically proven to be the quickest methods of learning. Remember this motto, ‘What’s rewarded gets repeated!’

Through the use of Positive Reinforcement Dog Training, we are able to teach our dogs any number of things, without the use of force or aversive stimulation (things the dog perceives as unpleasant- shock collars, invisible fencing/e-fencing, prong/choke collars, balance training methods, etc.).

When considering your dogs behavior, think about what you want them to do, versus what you do not want them to do. When your dog does a behavior you want them to, provide them a reward to let them know they have done good. They will want to repeat the good behaviors over and over again because it earns them a reward that they love. 🐾

Howdy, y’all! My name is Timber and I am a Staffy Mix born around October 12, 2023. What I lack in size I make up for in personality and believe me, my personality is sure to make you giggle! I get the zoomies often and while I’m zipping around, I like to yell “TIMBER” just to see if anyone freaks out and jumps out of the way. Just kidding, I can’t actually talk but it sure would be fun if I could! Toys are awesome but I prefer to play with my human whenever possible so someone with energy to keep me entertained is a must. Whew, it’s been a whirlwind the past few months but I’m happy to report that I am now a Nebraska resident and ready to find my forever family! My name is Dottie and I’m a Staffy/Bulldog mix born in November 2020. You may remember my babies, the Dodge City Litter, being posted here not too long ago, they sure are cute if I do say so myself! I gave birth to them in a shelter and then headed back to my first home where I was left to my own devices outside and wasn’t really enjoying life. Now that I’m safe and happy I’m gaining confidence in myself and realizing that I am worthy of love just like everyone else out there!

I get along great with other dogs but don’t care for rabbits or cats; I’m not sure if it’s the hopping, the meowing, or a combination of both but those creatures are not for me. Walking on a leash and adventuring outside of my house can be a little nerve-wracking but I’m practicing all the time and getting better every day! Since I previously spent so much time outside, I’m still working on potty-training but a smart girl like me won’t take long to ace that skill!

Snuggling is definitely a 5-star activity for me and I LOVE a nice soft bed or couch, with winter coming I think I’d make a great personal heater but I’m happy to let you decide for yourself! Check out my link below and fill out an application today! 💜

This is a very hard post to write and share, but so many of you have fallen in love with Brooke and Brynne. Brooke and Brynne were brought into rescue as the last survivors of their litter. Their mama had mastitis and was not feeding them. Even worse, mama was in so much pain that she bit both Brooke and Brynne on the head and ear. The owners knew that they were in over their heads and needed help so they surrendered them and that is when we placed them under the expert care of our neonate foster to get the best care possible around the clock. Both girls were gaining weight, had opened their eyes, and were showing more signs of strength daily.

Unfortunately, on Wednesday afternoon Brynne started having seizures, while she was at the vet. The vet ran a slew of tests including x-rays and bloodwork, and the consensus was that she had hydrocephalus, most likely congenital. Once her seizures stopped, we opted to bring her home for the night and monitor her. During the night, Brynne continued to have seizures. We also consulted with a second vet, who agreed with the first vet about her diagnosis and prognosis. A third vet also agreed she had hydrocephalus and that the humane decision was to let her go.

Late Thursday afternoon, Brynne crossed the rainbow bridge in the arms of her amazing neonate foster. Her amazing foster made the decision to adopt sweet Brynne before she passed, to give her a furever home and a last name ❤️‍🩹 This sweet little baby girl knew nothing but love and comfort during her time in rescue and was so loved. Our hearts are broken, but we know this decision was best for Brynne.

Please keep Brooke in your thoughts as she learns to navigate life without her sister, as well as our BNBR family as we are all feeling this loss.

I made my way from the streets of Kansas, to a foster home in Nebraska where I raised my babies, to my current location at the abandoned mama dog retirement center and I couldn’t be happier! This “center” (aka foster home) for moms has me grunting happy grunts and even letting out a “woo” now and then to show my appreciation for all of these humans that are loving up on me!

My name is Sailor and I’m a 1.5 year old Staffy; I’m looking for a harbor to park my tooshie and call home forever! I recently gave birth to 8 pups and spent some time raising them to be adorable little land creatures and now I’m taking some time to figure out what I need and want since my babies are headed out on their own. I am a pretty laid back, patient gal who loves kids and gets along great with other dogs. I enjoy chomping on ice cubes and will never turn down a spoonful of ooey, gooey peanut butter...LICK! Oh, hello out there. Hi. My name is, um, Pepper and I’m new to this whole internet thing. In fact, I’m new to the whole living in this great big world thing, but I’m slowly learning what it means to be a dog after spending so much of my life in a kennel while being used for breeding. I was born September 1, 2014 which means I enjoy the finer things in life like quiet days at home napping, sun bathing when the weather is nice, and chicken jerky when the mood strikes! I’d love to find a work from home human or someone who is retired so we can spend our days relaxing and enjoying each other’s company.

I’m still pretty shy and tend to get scared of sudden movements and loud noises. When it’s time to do chores around the house I prefer to head to my kennel because it is my safe place, although due to my past I don’t like when the door is closed. I’m a smart girl and already know when breakfast time is! I know the word “outside” and after observing my fur siblings do their business, I usually get motivated to do mine; I especially like when humans praise me and give me treats, my tail does it’s happy wagging thing and I get pretty excited! I would love to find a home with another dog similar in size to help me continue to learn the ropes, and someday I hope to find the courage to play with a furry friend.

My name is Ace and I was born on February 7th, 2023! I’m a fun guy who likes to sit back and watch my friends play and then join in when I feel good and ready. Usually that's pretty quick! I’m working on that thing called potty training and with my brains, it’s been a breeze to figure out, especially since my foster mom is starting to train me with bells on the door. I'm crate trained and know it's my quiet time space but I really just wanna be next to whoever is home. If I'm outside, I need a 6ft tall fence to keep me safe or I may explore the other side of the fence without you knowing it!

Have you ever gone hiking or on an outdoor adventure and thought to yourself “Man, I wish I had someone furry to share this experience with?” If so, allow me to introduce myself!

I’m Bia, the lab/shepherd mix and I LOVE outdoor adventures, especially ones that involve me carrying a ball! I enjoy people of all types, even the little ones, but I tend to jump from excitement when I meet them and they can get a little freaked out by that. I get along great with other dogs, especially ones that like to rough house, and I think I would be really good at having a “job” or a sport like agility training to keep my mind and body in tip-top shape.

Sometimes I get shy around strangers but I’m hoping my new family can help me overcome that with some confidence building and training! I’m already really good with “sit” and “lay down”, I sleep great in my kennel, and I go potty outside as long as I don’t get distracted inside with a full bladder.
