Kirby’s Hope
First, who is Kirby? Kirby belongs to Lee Legenhausen, founder of Pets in Omaha. Kirby has had a pretty great and long life, bringing joy to Lee for over a decade. Kirby hopes all animals can have a life like he has had. A new organization from the Pets in Omaha team will help other dogs, and all companion animals, be so lucky, happy, and healthy. ts initial goal was to fill a void. Omaha’s animal community is full of great organizations, pet-friendly businesses, rescue groups and shelters, but a one-stop website where Omahans could discover just about anything pet-related didn’t exist. Pets in Omaha has since become the area leader in pet-related web content, connecting pet lovers with animal-centered and animal-friendly businesses, highlighting great shelter and rescue operations and their adoptable animals, and listing hundreds of pet events on any given day of the year (among other things). The people behind the scenes of Pets in Omaha have brought readers thousands of pages of news, information, advice, and interviews with local pet lovers and animal professionals. Our team will continue to publish our online news magazine each day. As we all strive to do the most good we can, our team at Pets in Omaha has founded Kirby’s Hope, a Nebraska non-profit corporation. And to achieve the goal of improving the lives of pets and helping those who keep pets become more responsible owners, we’re using a portion of every sponsorship dollar Pets in Omaha receives to fund the activities of Kirby’s Hope. Our mission: To provide area pet owners and advocates with educational content to promote responsible pet ownership; to provide timely financial assistance to humane organizations; and to provide technological support to shelters and rescue groups who need help promoting their adoptable animals on the web. We know we can’t do this on our own. It will take great business partners and individual volunteers who care deeply about the welfare of these animals. We will count on people in our community to aid us in our mission. Together, we can do great things for our furry friends. This is Kirby’s Hope.
