Who says old dogs can't learn new tricks!?

Tessie has pulled on the leash and been reactive to dogs and wildlife her whole life. Especially living part time in a bustling city like Philadelphia this can cause quite the problem.

Tessies momma decided to seek help for Tessies issues and in just 2 short lessons Tessie has come leaps and bounds from where she started! There is still work to be done but Tessie exhibited zero leash reactivity in the park today which is great progress!

Look at Piper cheesin'!! 😁🧀

Piper is 5 months old and brimming with puppy energy! This can and does result in problem jumping and mouthing as well as attention barking at other dogs. Additionally Piper suffers from some mild separation anxiety. In just a few short weeks of weekly private sessions Piper has made great strides in her training and you can see the results!

We are looking to fill open slots for our puppy obedience classes Tuesday or Thursday evenings at 5:30pm in Neawah Park. Puppy classes are an hour long once a week for 4 weeks and designed for dogs 2-7 months of age. Cost is $20/session to be paid at the first class.

If you are interested in puppy obedience classes please pm or text/call 607-386-3949 with which day works best for you (Tuesdays or Thursdays) along with your pups name, age, and breed!!

If you are interested in obedience classes but your dog is older please reach out and we'll do our best to accommodate you!

Bandit and Smokey were an absolute pleasure to work with today!!

These boys are both under a year old and did so well at their private training session today! We worked on leash walking & reactivity, problem jumping, and decreasing boredom and the problem behaviors that boredom creates (inappropriate chewing of household items, attention whining/mouthing, overstimulation, etc).

Class is every Saturday at 2pm in Neawah Park near the pavilion by the dog park and just $20 per pup per class to join! Just bring proof of vaccines to participate!

We are often asked what is the right age to start puppy obedience?

Did you know that the prime socialization window for puppies is between 7-12wks old? Impressions made during that time frame are most likely to stick with the dog and carry into adulthood. During these weeks your puppy should meet 100 people (kids, the elderly, men, women, people in hats, people with canes, etc), be introduced to cats and dogs, and be exposed to things such as car rides and hardwood floors!

Is it possible for a dog to still learn new things after 12 weeks of age? Of course! With that said it is harder to get information to have a lasting impact on your dog after 12wks of age.

We encourage dogs as young as 8wks of age that have had their first set of vaccinations to sign up for puppy obedience classes! This handsome young man is Luke!

At just 5 months old, Luke is already the size of most full grown dogs and his strong will and stubbornness have been apparent since day 1. Luke has the best parents but was really giving them a run for their money with poor recall outdoors, incessant desire to chase the small dogs in the household (and chickens outside), inability to focus, and out of control behavior on the leash. While his owners love Luke very much, his unruly behavior was causing them so much stress and anxiety that they were beginning to question if they were the right home for him.

His family opted to enroll Luke in both private lessons and puppy classes. He is such a smart boy and absorbs everything he's taught. Luke's family has been more than attentive to his needs, promptly obtaining any necessary training tools and diligently practicing all they've been taught with consistency. Thanks to their dedication in just a months time Luke has transformed from terror to the ultimate goodest boy 💕 Luke's owners refer to us as miracle workers but all the training in the world means nothing without dedicated owners so we think they're the real miracle workers here!!

Puppy obedience classes offered in Milford (currently on Thursday evenings) with 4 month Revere (pictured below) and friends!! All in attendance must be current on distemper vaccines and rabies if old enough. $20 per dog per class. Space is limited.

Yesterday we worked with Titan the Bullmastiff (I could barely contain myself with that adorable blockhead 😍). Titan is the best boy 98% of the time but struggles with fear aggression/ protective behavior when young men come to the house. This is a very common hurdle for the breed and we are excited to see the progress he makes!

While dogs are my specialty, I'm an advocate for all animals and almost always have a foster passing by waiting on their forever home. My current foster baby is Bowie! All Animals Matter grabbed him out of a snow bank a couple of weeks ago. Feel free to share to help me find him a home!!

Bowie is a primadonna that isn't afraid to voice his enjoyment or disdain for things. He's a lovebug that wants to be right on top of you all the time but if you move too fast you might scare him and make him hiss 🤦😂 Bowie is a bit of a chicken and drama queen sometimes but his antics are sure to keep you laughing!

Bowie is already neutered and will be fully vetted prior to adoption. He's probably too much of a chicken to be placed with little kids but he may do well with other animals, he has not yet been tested.

**Pictured is my rescue pup Ziggy. He came into my life as an adult dog having grown up in a cage too small to stand, starved in a barn with his mother and 5 siblings. He was not potty trained, he was forced to fight for food with the brother he shared his tiny cage with, and everything and everyone was new to him... But look at him now! That smile says it all 💕 It's been a long, hard road for the both of us but 6yrs later he is (and has been) flourishing!!

Did you know that a wagging tail does not necessarily equal a happy dog?

It is a common misconception that a dog is happy just because his/her tail is wagging. Dogs also often wag their tails when they are nervous or uncomfortable.

Learning to read what your dog is trying to tell you by interpreting his/her tail wag takes time and skill as the changes can be quite subtle but if you pay close attention, you will be able to understand your pup much better!

One of the most important clues to pick up on through a tail wag is that your dog will wag its tail slightly to its left when uncomfortable with a situation (or person, animal, etc) and slightly to the right when your pup is comfortable and familiar with a situation. A good way to practice interpreting this body language is give your pup his/her favorite treat and watch how their tail wags!

After a trying few months, I can no longer keep my passion and my calling at bay and am back in the animal field offering dog training and behavior modification to our community which is so very lacking in resources for this field.

For those that don't know me, I have 10+yrs experience working with dogs of all breeds and temperaments. Rescue has always had my heart and I have trained hundreds upon hundreds of rescue pups. No behavior issue is too big or too small. I adhere to LIMA (least intrusive, minimally aversive) standards and will work hard to develop a plan to make a better life for you and your furry family member.

For those that do know me, please feel free to leave a review and/or drop a photo of your pup in the comments along with a little back story on how I may have played a role in keeping or bringing your family together and the progress your dog made with my help!!

(Pictured is Adeline, one of my bottle feeders that I fostered from just 5 days old. This litter was potty trained, crate trained, and knew basic commands such as sit, come, and stay, as well as knew not to jump or chew on people by just 9wks old!)
