This mourning dove had its tail feathers ripped out by a cat. I’ve never rehabbed a bird. Let’s see how this goes.

It’s that time of year. Please watch out for turtles that are trying to cross the road. If you can safely stop, pull over and gently move them to side of the road they were headed towards. DO NOT take them home.

Did you know, a mother deer leave fawn unattended daily? Fawns have no odor and "hide" from predators simply by lying still and staying put. Mom returns in the late afternoon or dusk to clean and feed the fawn. She will not return if she sees you first. Fawns can be trusting, and may approach humans. It’s an old wives’ tale that the mother will abandon them if they have the odor of humans on them, but you should lwave them alone if you come upon them UNLESS:

*Does the fawn have patches of yellow rice type matter on its body?
*Are the tips of its ears curled down?
*Is it injured or bleeding?
*Are their dogs or other predators threatening it?

If the answers to these questions are "no", leave that baby alone!

Demelza had 6 kittens last night who will be ready for their furever homes in 6 weeks.
