Community Feral Cat Rescue advocates and implements TNR and colony management as a humane means of feral cat population control. Additionally, Community Feral Cat Rescue helps to educate communities about stray. Community Feral Cat Rescue began in Waggaman, LA in 2002 on farm property turned mobile home park. The property still housed several horse clubs and had become a favorite place to dump unw

anted cats. In November 2002, there were nearly 200 un-owned cats on the property. Marjorie moved in and began an aggressive effort to spay and neuter these ferals even though no voucher programs existed and veterinarians were less than willing to help reduce feral cat populations. After Katrina struck in 2005, the feral cat population exploded! This explosion ushered in the acceptance of vouchers and free spay/neuter for feral cats. Alley Cat Allies also acknowledged Marjorie's effort in helping to reduce feral cat population as well as caring for those that would never become house cats. (ACA Newsletter, Spring 2006). Community Feral Cat Rescue became a 501c3 non-profit organization in September 2014. Although the last of the original resident cats have passed on, we continue to maintain a large colony. Today our colony residents often include cats that have health issues like FIV, FeLv+, blind, missing limbs or senior kitties. These cats are often hard to place or are rejected because they test positive. At Community Feral Cat Rescue, no cat is ever turned away because of a positive FIV or FeLv+ diagnosis. We maintain a colony of 55 cats which includes our indoor/outdoor cats. We also have 4 rescue dogs and 11 Ring-neck doves. We strive to stay within our 55 cat residency, but in extreme circumstances, allowances are made. It's always all about the kitty. Thank you for helping us help them!
