princeps babies are getting bold. It’s really entertaining to watch them hunt and take down crickets. Sorry for the poor cell phone pics but they don’t sit still for long when there’s food to be eaten.
US Captive Bred Reptiles As the name suggests, I work with various species of knobtail geckos (Nephrurus). However, don't let the name deceive you!
My current projects also include other reptiles such as dwarf monitor lizards (Odatria) and Gidgee Skinks (Egernia Stokesii). I plan on expanding with other species in the very near future as well, so please keep checking back for updates! This site is very new and is still under construction but I will do my best to have it completed within the next few weeks. Thank you for visiting! Houssam Istanbouli

Baby epsisolus born here last week. This pair gave me 2 babies last year but any healthy baby is a win with these guys! Been a good lizard year so far 🤞🏽. NFS.
The clutch of princeps have all hatched within a few days of eachother and are ready to get setup. 100% hatch rate which is always great. These will be stunning as they mature.
Female thomasi laid a massive (for me) 14 egg clutch today. I was in the reptile room checking on some geckos and took a peek and saw the female sleeping and deflated. We’ve been playing the game of “resetting” the nest area for a few days as this has been my experience with them but she eventually laid in the right spot and didn’t puncture any eggs. This is just one portion of the breeding process. Now onto incubation. I never count my eggs before they hatch but let’s hope to see some little ones in a couple months.
The first USCB princeps making its way out of the egg. I’ve been raising my pairs from tiny juveniles for a couple of years and the patience has paid off. Another new species for me to have successful breeding results with so I am excited 😊.
Most of you guessed the gecko in my last story correctly, Nice work!
Here are the two recently hatched .
They will go through a very dramatic ontogenetic color and pattern change as they mature. You can see adults in my previous posts.

amyae looking pretty good after just laying a clutch. One of my, and seems like, everyone’s favorite. Hopefully see some little ones in a couple of months.
A very young somalense v. nova blooming for the first time. Only one flower but wow it is a vibrant one. Can’t wait for these to get larger in size in the years to come.
First of the season decided to pop out today. I didn’t breed as many Nephrurus this year but still had to pair up a few 🙂.
depressa born over the last few days. Always a surprise with live bearing lizards and this was a great surprise. The first Egernia of the year, maybe the last but happy regardless 😊.
One of my favorite plants in my collection is this abdelkuri. Now that it’s heating up, you can start seeing new growth on each of the 5 heads. I don’t have too many Euphorbia but these are definitely so unique, I had to grab one. I do have the pink cv. Damask form as well but I think I prefer the original.
CB 2023 epsisolus female. Last year babies ended up to be two females; I’m usually not that lucky…I’d like to set up another pair so this one is looking for a new 🏡. If you have an extra male and need a female, send me a DM, we can do a partial swap.
First of the season hatched today. A nice galeatus. You can see how small it is in comparison to my hand. Great start to the season 🙂
fimbria females using the communal nest box and seem to be in sync with their cycles. Fingers crossed incubation goes well as it’s always exciting breeding something you’ve never bred before 🙂.
Picked up some more awesome plants from my buddy a week ago. I think I have a slight addiction 🙂.
Kyle has some very unique plants with an emphasis on and cacti . I would highly recommend checking out and favoriting his eBay store if this is your jam. His eBay link is in the comments.
rauschii (blooming)
aselliformis
perezdelaros var. aeandersoniana crest retusus tre-finger
And I thought memorizing reptile scientific names was challenging 🤯
First lizard eggs of the season from this princeps female. 11 good looking eggs. If all goes well, hoping to see some little ones in a couple months. This will be a first for me🤞🏽🦎
Some absolutely terrible cell phone pics of some geckos getting paired up tonight. I decided to seriously start the season tonight for so hopefully should have some and other species of geckos this summer.
gigas producing seeds. The seeds literally explode out of their flower (hypanthodium), hence the little mesh bags around them. I am new to and from most of what I’ve read, gigas is not a self fertile plant and needs to be pollinated by a male plant from a different clone in order to produce seeds. So I am a bit perplexed that I am getting seeds. I will definitely try to sow them and see if anything becomes of it but seeing the plants produce so many hypanthodium, they must be happy 🙂.
First gecko pairing of the season. galeatus. I’ve always liked this Genus and produced my first ones last year. Hoping to produce different species in the next year or so. #🦎
Acheta domesticus (House crickets) and Gryllodes sigillatus (Banded Crickets). I typically use the former for all my terrestrial geckos and I wish there was a supplier in Southern California who shipped. As far as banded crickets go, I’ve tried them in a pinch and my geckos don’t like them as much. They have long antenna which is always disturbing the animals before they can eat them. They either don’t move or jump sporadically and are harder to catch. Every once in a while I try them because shipping doesn’t cost more than the crickets themselves but I never learn.
Ocassionally, in California, I am able to get Gryllus bimaculatus (Black Crickets) which are really good gut loader but once they grow to a certain size are harder to digest.
Which do you prefer? And does anyone know a vendor for Acheta domestica on the west coast that ships?
Long story short, for my geckos, where do I think Banded crickets belong? In the trash, that’s where they belong 😅.
Pictures belong to their respective owners.
PS. I do have a dubia colony and other feeders but unfortunately they burrow and I don’t have time to watch each gecko eat.
Amazing group of fimbria bred by my great friend Frank Colacicco Reptilian Diaries. Took them out for a quick check up during cooling. Or if you can even call Southern California weather cooling 😉.
Two different grafts of fissuratus godzilla coral I was lucky enough to get by my good friend . These were grafted from seedlings he sowed. I still haven’t tried my hand at but I am amazed and have so much to learn.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and Happy New Year to you all! Thank you for all the support over the years, the best gift I could ask for. Here’s a recently hatched carpi to celebrate the holidays. 🎄🦎
Some neat variation between these sibling pair of levis pilbarensis. The male in the first photo has an occidentalis-ish pattern while the female in the second photo is more of a typical color and pattern. These are holdbacks that will be outcrossed in the future.
Almost 70 animals delivered today with no problems via . Considering the locations and the sizes of the boxes; competitive pricing and great customer service. No matter the cost of reptile you get from me I always use one piece foam boxes from Uline and cryo packs at a minimum. (No, unfortunately I am not getting paid to say anything about all products and services mentioned 😂). Checking your location and destination temps are a great start to knowing how to pack a box. Just as important make sure you check which hub your package is going through and the temps at those locations. 📦✈️🐍🦎.
lealii var. saundersii flowering for the first time. Sometimes it’s small things like this that get you through the day.
Holdback male levis levis from the striped project that I’m slowly outcrossing. Sometimes you get crazy looking reduced stripes, sometimes you don’t. But it’s always a cool surprise.
Real fun trip, most everything I saw was lifer! Check out Frank’s YouTube channel Reptilian Diaries and subscribe if you like what you see! 🐍🦎🐢

#Timon kurdistanicus hatchlings. These are the red throat variety from my previous post. They are tiny and fast! Hence putting the container in a tub before opening it. Incubated at 83* F for 70 days. Since it’s in the evening, they’ll be kept in a humid container in the incubator until they get placed in their enclosure tomorrow 🦎🥚 #reptiles #timonkurdistanicus #lacertidae
Thank you for the 4.5k follows and over 4,000 likes. Here’s a holdback #Uromastyx male from last year feeling so fresh and so clean clean 😊
#Uromastyx #thomasi babies growing well and eating like pigs. NFS (yet) please don’t message me about it 😊. There’s one in the group that’s a toe nipper (no idea which one) but besides that they are doing excellent and I couldn’t be happier 😊 #uromastyx #uromastyxthomasi #uromastyxofinstagram #omaniuromastyx #oman #lizard #lizards #lizardsofinstagram #babies #hatchlings #tail #round #blue #California #captivebreeding #captivebredreptiles #captivebred #reptile #reptiles #reptilesofinstagram #adorable
