What's the difference between stray cats and community cats? Stray cats are domesticated cats who have been lost or abandoned and may struggle to survive on their own. On the other paw, community cats are those who live outdoors in colonies, often cared for by compassionate community members.

At Clay Humane Urgent Care, we're here for pet emergencies that need immediate attention but can be treated on an outpatient basis. Like urgent care centers for people, we provide after-hours relief for common pet illnesses and injuries.

During Urgent Care hours, we see patients on a walk-in basis. Severe conditions are prioritized based on urgency, while less critical cases like respiratory infections, limping, minor cuts, ear infections, diarrhea, vomiting, and skin diseases are treated in the order they arrive. Dr. Chris Broadhurst and Clay County Detective Gary Winterstein presented a workshop on animal cruelty at the Animal Care Expo in Las Vegas. The workshop highlighted the relationship between law enforcement/humane officers and veterinary professionals who play a key role in addressing animal cruelty and preventing future acts of violence against both people and pets.

Animal Care Expo is the largest international educational conference and trade show for animal welfare professionals and volunteers. Experts from across the globe and all facets of animal welfare join together to explore innovative programs, exchange best practices, find inspiration, and build meaningful connections.

Did you know that Florida Animal Friend has a License To End Pet Homelessness? For every Florida Animal Friend license plate purchased or renewed, $25 funds annual grants to clinics and organizations offering low-cost or no-cost spay and neuter services. Each grant is up to $25,000 and pays for resources that limit pet homelessness. Florida Animal Friend has provided over $8.8 million in grants to deserving clinics since 2005, thanks to Floridians who purchased our specialty plate!
