My 2024 Top 10 Images of the Year— #6 “Seneca Chief Sea Trial” I captured in August along the Erie Canal in Ridgeway, NY as this fabulous replica of the very first boat to ever travel the length of the canal passed above the Medina Culvert. This is the ONLY spot along this historic waterway where vehicles travel UNDER this historic waterway. This boat, made by the hardworking folks at the Buffalo Maritime Center, will travel the length of the Canal—from Buffalo to Albany, then down to New York Harbor—in September as part of the Erie Canal bicentennial. The Seneca Chief was conducting a “sea trial”, testing its capabilities before its historic voyage ten months from now. Captured this with the drone—SO cool to see at such a historic spot of this beloved waterway. 2025 is an enormous year for the 200 year old Erie Canal!
