We would like to wish one of the best vets in the Valley a Happy Retirement! Congratulations Dr Terry! Truly one of the kindest people I’ve ever met! A wonderful mentor and friend!
-Dr Lucy
Good morning, everyone. Happy Hump Day!
Today, we’re gonna pretend that it’s Monday for a special post, because “Meet The Staff Wednesday” just doesn’t have the same ring to it! We have been absent for the last couple of weeks preparing for this post and it’s finally time.
So, without further ado, please enjoy this spotlight of a man who needs no introduction, Dr Terry Stanglein, VMD.
Dr Terry moved to the Lehigh Valley in the 60’s to attend Moravian College where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree. He then went on to earn his Masters of Science in Biology with a special concentration on parasitology, while working as a veterinary assistant, in the 70’s.
In the 1980s, Dr Terry was accepted into veterinary school, where in 1983 he graduated from the University of Pennsylvania as a veterinarian. A year after his graduation, Dr Terry bought the clinic from Dr Clarence Rothrock, and has practiced medicine here since. Initially working with both large and small animals, from dairy cows, sheep, goats and horses to cats, dogs, chickens and many more, Dr Terry has worked with a wide range of species. He said that during this time here, he has met many, many wonderful people, and is honored to have multiple generations of families coming to the practice, especially those families who have been clients of his since his start here at the clinic.
When he isn't putting in the hours at the clinic, in his free time Dr Terry likes gardening, watching some sports and spending time with his family.
Thank you, Dr Terry for making time to speak with me. It’s truly such a pleasure working with you and learning from you. You are a wealth of knowledge and have so many amazing stories from your years in the field - we will never get tired of hearing them.
- Emily

Before parting, Dr Terry also had a message to share:
“Dear Valued Clients,
It is with a mix of emotions that I am writing to inform you of an important decision I have made. After forty years of serving as a veterinarian at our clinic, I have decided to retire.
Effective May 2024, I will no longer be practicing in our clinic. This decision has not been easy, but it is one that I believe is best for me personally and professionally. I want to assure you that your pets’ well-being has always been my top priority. It has been an incredible journey, and I am grateful for the trust you have placed in me over the years.
While I will no longer be available for appointments, I will be consulting for our Run Free Pet Hospice. Your pets deserve the best care, and I am confident that our clinic's doctors will continue to offer just that.
Thank you.
Dr Terry”
