New favorite barn tool. Brought the electric kettle to the barn for tea and hot cocoa, but the horses quite appreciated their alfalfa soup.
As a kid, we used to give our horses bran mash, but we were quite unaware of how dangerous it could be to add that in randomly. The goal was really to increase water consumption with an extra bit of calories. Now, we use alfalfa cubes and add in oils to make a tasty cold weather snack. Since the horses already get hay that has quite a bit of alfalfa, the extra cubes aren't something new, and we're adding extra water at the same time.
