๐ Many of you will add a Christmas puppy to your family this year! ๐
Make sure you get off to a good start by doing your puppy behavior homework so come spring, you donโt have a massive behavioral issue on your hands! Make sure to include the following in your puppy training checklist:
1. Knock/Ring the door bell every day and immediately tell that puppy to sit/stay in a designated spot or โgo to your placeโ etc. โ soon pup will go to that spot automatically and wait quietly.
2. While you enjoy playtime with your puppy, have a device playing loud fireworks, thunder, heavy rain, etc to help puppy familiarize themselves with those sounds. Donโt wait till the 4th of July to find out your dog is terrified of fireworks! You know what they say about an ounce of prevention!
3. Socialize, socialize, socialize! Walk your pup daily and allow them to see and be seen by the world. They do not (and should not) need to stop and greet every last dog or person they meet along the way. Just meet and greet enough to teach pup how to do it politely, but pup should also learn to politely walk past others without looking to interact every time.
Good luck! You got this! ๐
