Day one with O’reo was a little Ruff for all parties involved, but we made it and are all the better for it! Thank you Rebecca Carrasquillo for letting us take your girl and shape her, we can’t wait to see her continue to learn and grow!

Say hello to our newest Board and Train student O’reo! She is a 5 year old blue heeler, with not the greatest history with adult males. When I picked her up yesterday to bring her home she was trying to eat me. When we got her home last night she was worn out from driving down the I-4(me too O’reo, me too).

This morning started with me laying on my back to get her to come near me. I’m a big guy so being smaller made her feel more comfortable. She then let Beth love on her more, and it evolved into me sitting on the couch loving on her, and eventually her on the couch with me. Successive approximation in action 😉

Rapport with a dog is the foundation underneath Obedience. If you want to build Obedience in your dog, you first have to build the relationship with your dog.

Your dog becomes part of our family and each family member becomes an intricate part of the training process. We love you Whiskey! Everyone say Hi to Whiskey! He’s been with us the last week and some change. Board and train is a rewarding experience not only for the dog but for my family as well! My wife and two kids welcome the dogs into our house like family, because that’s what they are! Thank you Kimberly for sharing your Whiskey with us!

So in this video taken during my time overseas you’ll see a handler with his Military Working Dog riding in a basket out of and into a helo. What looks like a simple ride is so much more then that. It took weeks of prep work. Starting with introduction to the helo with the MWD, without engines on. Next was walking around the same helo with engines on. Next was a ride in the helo. Next was sitting in that basket on the ground with the dog while playing/loving on the dog. FINALLY, came riding in the basket and what you see in the video. Who can tell me what this training method is? First person to comment it below gets the pride of knowing they’re better then everyone else 😂, and a DownLeash K9 sticker (when they’re made).
