🚨Deadline 5pm Saturday 1/25 - broken leg with open wounds (graphic picture in comments)

PARIS - This dog is a spayed female. This dog is currently located in CLIND07. This dog weighs approximately 46.0 lbs.,is 5Y and has tested negative for heartworm disease. This dog is being posted to rescue due to other reasons.
Meet Paris!

***Due to broken leg needs rescue placement by Saturday, January 25th***

This super friendly girl was hit by a car yesterday and we were able to locate her owner who came back this morning to surrender because they can not afford the surgery she needs.

The injury is in her rear right leg where a bandage was placed but she will need more care than what we can provide in the shelter.

The veterinary clinic where Paris was taken observed that she had several open wounds over the left tarsus and metatarsus with significant tarsal instability (there was bone and tendon/ligament exposure along the lateral malleolus). They offered amputation of the hindlimb vs. tarsal stabilization with an external fixator +/- ligament reconstruction with the goal of saving the limb.

Please let us know if you can help PARIS!

Update 1/21- Reef has left the shelter with a rescue. We will update with which rescue if/when we get that information.

Reef is on this week's Last Chance (Euthanasia) List at Orange County Animal Services, Orlando, Florida. He is RESCUE ONLY and needs a foster and rescue by his deadline of 6 am Wednesday, January 22nd or he will be euthanized. Please help SHARE.

👉If you are a rescue and can help Reef, please email the shelter at: [email protected]. OCAS is offering a $250 incentive to its rescue partners.

👉If you want to foster Reef for a rescue, please also email the shelter at [email protected] and send us a PM.

List of rescue partners for Orange County Animal Services (Orlando, FL): http://www.ocnetpets.com/ProgramsServices/Rescues/RescuePartners.aspx

Reef arrived at the shelter as a fearful stray in mid-November. He was calm and friendly during pairings and after sharing a kennel for a short time with a neutered male, later shared with a spayed female for about a month until she was adopted.

Reef was easily leashed and eager to get to the yard. Initially avoidant with handlers, later notes state that he sought social and allowed full handling.

Reef has not wanted to return to his kennel after time in the yard. He "put on the brakes and refused to move." On 2 occasions it is noted that staff leash muzzled him for safety due to increased signs of stress and picked him up to return him to his kennel. "Behavior seems to stem from high anxiety and panic on going back to the kennel," Once in the kennel, his leash could be easily removed.

Reef was adopted on January 3rd but returned 6 days later. He did not want to go back inside the apartment and the adopter picked him up leading to a minor bite on his face. He now needs rescue placement by 6 am Wednesday 1/22.

Reef is approx 4 years old and weighs 57 lbs. He is neutered and tested negative for heartworm disease.

FREEDOM UPDATE - Alfie, Winnie, Beauford, and Benji are safe with Paws of Hope Dog Rescue. Photo in the comments. Please see their freedom post to honor your pledges!

https://www.facebook.com/share/p/15ZxEUQMJK/?mibextid=wwXIfr

*If the rescue who pulled Rex messages this page and we will update for him.

Update - All received rescue holds. More updates to follow.

There are 5 dogs on the Last Chance (Euthanasia) List at Orange County Animal Services, Orlando, Florida. They are RESCUE ONLY and need fosters and rescues by their deadline of 6 am Wednesday, January 15th or they will be euthanized. OCAS is offering a $250 incentive per dog to rescue partners.
Please help SHARE them.

▶️Benji was surrendered in November when his owner of 5+ years no longer had time for him. He was adopted and returned 2 weeks later due to a minor bite on the arm when he jumped at a person entering the home.

At the shelter Benji allows leashing easily and "walks decently on leash". He knows sit and shake and allowed handling, leaning into his handler. He greeted other staff with a stiff posture and may be protective of his handler.

While paired briefly in November Benji has not been successfully paired since his adoption return .

Benji is 6 years old and weighs 50 lbs. He is neutered and tested negative for heartworm disease.

Shelter link - http://ocnetpets.com/Adopt/AnimalsinShelter.aspx?animalid=A433376 .

▶️ Winnie has had a very unstable life over the past six months, as she has been in and out of the shelter 4 times since August 2024. Initially impounded as a stray, she has been adopted and returned 3 times for not getting along with the resident cat, owner moving and could not take her along and 2 minor bites (no blood drawn).

At the shelter Winnie is very friendly and social with her handlers, but she may be selective with men. She displays loose body language in the kennel and is leashed easily. Winnie has been paired easily with multiple dogs and even participated in play groups.

Winnie is estimated to be 4 years old and about 44 pounds. She is spayed and tested negative for heartworm disease.

Shelter link - https://orangecountyanimalservicesfl.net/Adopt/AnimalsinShelter.aspx?animalid=A553261

▶️ Alfie was impounded as a stray in August 2024. He is described as sweet and well-behaved, he is a strong dog (pulls on leash) with pent up energy from being in the shelter for almost six months.

Alfie was initially paired with another dog, but after a month of shelter life, there was an altercation and Alfie has been no longer open to sharing a kennel. It is noted that he “avoids interaction with other animals”.

At the shelter Alfie has displayed hyper fixation on toys and upon assessment, appears to be escalating to resource guarding and frustration and is showing signs of mental deterioration.
Alfie was recently taken on a “Dog Day Out” with a shelter volunteer, and it is noted that he was “friendly with people and other dogs. He showed no resource guarding or toy fixation with any of the objects in the park yard”.

Alfie is estimated to be 6 years old and about 62 pounds. He is neutered and has tested positive for heartworm disease (has sponsorship for treatment).

Shelter link - https://orangecountyanimalservicesfl.net/Adopt/AnimalsinShelter.aspx?animalid=A553281

▶️Rex was just 18 months old when he was brought to the shelter as a stray in November. He was quickly adopted but returned about 2 weeks later due to being too much to handle, mouthy and chasing the resident cat.

At the shelter Rex is very friendly. He is easy to leash, pulls hard and enjoys sniffing in the yard. He is high energy and does not like returning to his kennel.

Due to his high reactivity to other dogs, he has not been successfully paired.

Rex is now 20 months old and weighs 74 lbs. He is neutered and tested negative for heartworm disease.

Shelter link - http://ocnetpets.com/Adopt/AnimalsinShelter.aspx?animalid=A560101 .

▶️Beauford came to the shelter just after Christmas as a stray. He was friendly on intake and initially easy to leash up. He had scabbed wounds on his head, muzzle, shoulder and leg when he arrived. His body condition score was a 5/9.

He's been struggling since, the shelter says he resource guards his food there. He also hasn't been able to share his kennel with other dogs.

Beauford is only 2 years old, 53 lbs and heartworm negative.

Shelter link - http://ocnetpets.com/Adopt/AnimalsinShelter.aspx?animalid=A561937 .

12/19 Update: Tabasco did not receive a rescue hold and was euthanized. RIP buddy. 🌈🤍

There is 1 dog on the Last Chance Euthanasia list at Orange County Animal Services in Orlando, FL. He has until 6 am on Wednesday 12/18 to receive a rescue commitment or he will be euthanized. He is rescue only, so he needs a foster and a rescue.

Tabasco originally arrived at OCAS as a stray. He was there for about a month and was recently adopted. He landed back at the shelter a few days later as a stray, per OCAS: Tabasco was picked up in the field after having been involved in a bite incident where he bit a person’s hand while they were trying to break up a dog fight, which Tabasco initiated.

In the shelter, Tabasco has been social and friendly towards people. He likes to jump on your lap. He has been easy to leash up and enjoys time out in the yard. The issue comes with his level of reactivity towards other dogs, including when he passes other kennels.

Tabasco is a little senior guy, at 7 years old, 25 lbs, neutered and (unfortunately) he is heartworm positive. The shelter does have a sponsorship program to help with that.

(OCAS is offering a $250 incentive for a rescue partner to help him).

👉 If you want to foster for a rescue, please also email the shelter and comment on the post down below or send us a PM.
