🚨URGENT ** URGENT ** URGENT - In need of placement TODAY by 5pm! Located at Orange County Animal Services (Orlando, FL).

MAGGIE - This dog is an unaltered female. This dog is currently located in WDH16. This dog weighs approximately 48.8 lbs.,is 1Y 1M and has tested negative for heartworm disease. This dog is being posted to rescue due to other reasons.

Meet Maggie! This pretty and friendly girl needs additional care than what we can provide at the shelter. Her tail required a partial amputation due to presenting with “happy tail” due to severe self-trauma to tip of tail with bone and tendon exposure. - and is now trying to self-traumatize the amputation site through the e-collar. Clinic staff is trying to be inventive in keeping her distracted, but she needs additional care from someone who can keep a close eye on her.

She was reclaimed by her owner, but returned due to continuing to cause self trauma to her tail and now may need a full amputation. This animal needs to receive a rescue placement by 5:00PM TODAY.

👉 If you are a rescue and can help Maggie, please email the shelter at: [email protected]

👉 If you want to foster for a rescue, please also email the shelter and comment on the post down below or send us a PM.

There are 3 dogs on this week's Last Chance (euthanasia) List at Orange County Animal Services, Orlando, Florida. They are Rescue Only and need fosters and rescue commitment by 6 am Wednesday morning 11/6/24 or they will be euthanized. Please help SHARE them.

Sasha is one of nearly two dozen dogs confiscated from a single residence in August, due to multiple concerns, primarily stemming from inadequate living conditions. She has spent almost 3 months in isolation - for 2 of those the county was petitioning for custody of the dogs and ultimately won - and she is now ready for the next chapter of her life.

Sasha is very sociable with people. She has a loose/wiggly body and "tap dances" in her kennel, is easily leashed and handled, and seeks affection from her handlers. She is however very reactive towards other dogs in the shelter environment. A training program should help.

She hasn't had an easy life so far but she is still a puppy at 15 months old and weighs just 35 lbs. She tested negative for heartworm disease and will be spayed prior to leaving the shelter.

Shelter link - http://ocnetpets.com/Adopt/AnimalsinShelter.aspx?animalid=A553746 .

Blake was picked up as a stray on 9/1. He had lacerations to his front legs and spent 10 days in the clinic.
He is very friendly, seeking social with his handlers and allowing full handling. He is easily leashed, pulls hard to get to the yard and takes treats gently.

Out in the kennels he was easily paired but noted to be high energy and intrusive. When later paired with an intact male dog they got into a "scuffle" resulting in mild injuries.
Blake is now struggling in the shelter environment. He has developed frustration and anxiety as his stay has lengthened and is being treated for 'happy tail' due to kennel confinement.

He is just 19 months old and weighs 63 lbs. He is neutered and tested negative for heartworm disease.

HARVEY . Shared from the post by
Furever Bully Love Rescue (who wants to help him)" We see the ugliness in this world every single day in rescue and today isn’t any different. We were contacted by Orange County Animal Services today asking if we could rescue Harvey. He’s the “type” of dog we specialize in. When I look at his picture I see the sadness and worry in his eyes. I see half of his snout missing, large chunks of fur missing and scars. Yet I still see beauty and hope. The reality is we are probably Harvey’s ONLY chance to make it out of the shelter alive. Although he’s friendly with humans he’s extremely dog reactive. Can you blame him? I can only imagine what he’s endured that he’s sustained this type of trauma to his face. The ONLY WAY we can pull him is if we get a FOSTER offer with no other pets and enough pledges to cover a training program of $2,800 to work on his reactivity. He most likely will always need to be the only dog in a home but that doesn’t mean his reactivity can’t be manageable." Link to FBLR post - https://www.facebook.com/share/p/159f2b7sP2/

Harvey is 8 years old, ONLY 27 lbs, heartworm negative and will be neutered prior to leaving the shelter.

Update 10/31 - April is safe with Pet Rescue by Judy. Freedom picture in comments.

Please honor pledges / help with her care here -> [email protected]&Z3JncnB0=" rel="ugc" target="_blank">https://www.paypal.com/donate/?cmd=_donations&business=[email protected]&Z3JncnB0=

Thank you!

Update 10/28 - April has a rescue hold.

🚨There is one dog on the last chance (euthanasia) list for this week. She has until Wednesday 10/30 by 6 am to receive a rescue commitment or she will be euthanized. She can also be adopted, on a case by case basis which would have to go through management- the deadline for adoption would be Tuesday 10/29 by 5:30 pm. She is located at Orange County Animal Services in Orlando, FL.

This is APRIL . April has been in and out of the shelter three times since May.
Originally impounded 5/13/24 - Owner surrendered due to being unable to afford vet care. Adopted 6/13/24.
2nd impound 6/17/24 - Adoption returned due to not getting along with the resident cat. Adopted 7/20/24.
Current impound 10/21/24 - Owner surrendered due to owner being medically unable to care for her any longer and April was not friendly with the family members.

April is said to be a loyal dog but has been very selective with her handlers, making it challenging for various shelter staff to handle her. During her time at the shelter in June, they shared in a social media post that April “is willing to give strangers a chance. She is still timid, but when people are patient with her, she will quietly and slowly seek them out. There is a part of her that is curious, playful, and longs for affection.” While she has had a hard time adjusting to the shelter environment, when staff brought her into the quiet office space, she was a different dog, much more comfortable and relaxed.

April has been noted to be friendly with other dogs. She has chronic skin issues that were previously managed with cytopoint. April is 3 years old, about 55lbs, she is spayed, and tested negative for heartworm disease.

Update 10/26: Pixie (aka Rosie’s) owners came forward just before the deadline and asked OCAS to euthanize their dog. Rest in peace sweet little Rosie 💔🌈.

🆘 NEEDS PLACEMENT BY 5 pm TODAY 10/25 ‼️

***URGENT ** URGENT ** URGENT***

*PIXIE - This dog is an unaltered female. This dog is currently located in CLIND35. This dog weighs approximately 34.0 lbs.,is 6Y and has tested negative for heartworm disease. This dog is being posted to rescue due to medical.

‼️‼️NEEDS PLACEMENT BY EOD TODAY!‼️‼️

Meet Pixie! She arrived emaciated but bright, alert, responsive and FRIENDLY! Pixie had been roaming around a neighborhood for a while, but she was finally captured yesterday. On imaging, it was noted a severe enlargement of her heart which coincides with a heart murmur. There were no evidence of a foreign body, and food was noted in her stomach.

Pixie needs a complete cardiac workup/evaluation from a full-service practice to have a prognosis. Her emaciation may or may not be connected to heart problems but without the workup it is not possible to say While Pixie is stable at this time, its condition can rapidly deteriorate at any time.

FREEDOM UPDATE! Dallas has left the shelter with Charlie’s Corner Animal Sanctuary! Please see her freedom post to honor pledges —> https://www.facebook.com/share/r/6RKqcXSbfXkD4hbZ/?

🚨FEARFUL MEDICAL DOG with TRAGIC intake story needs placement by 5 PM October 31st!. Orange County Animal Services (Orlando, FL).

*** Please share her. This is horrific what’s happened to this poor dog and she really needs help. She needs a foster and a rescue. She is listed on the adoption tab. If you are interested in adopting her, please reach out to the shelter and inquire about that with them.

DALLAS - This dog is an unaltered female. This dog is currently located in WDI28. This dog weighs approximately 95.0 lbs.,is 8Y and has tested negative for heartworm disease. This dog is being posted to rescue due to medical.

This beautiful, 95-pound chunky girl arrived at our shelter yesterday. Unfortunately the catalyst for her arrival here at our shelter is very unfortunate. Trigger warning: su***de.

From what we understand from law enforcement, her owner lit their apartment on fire and committed su***de. It seems the attempt may have been to harm the dog through this endeavor as well, but the fire was able to be put out.

We now have Dallas here at our shelter and she is understandably shaken up and not displaying positive behavior. She is very fearful and it seems may respond aggressively as a result of her fear. No immediate family members for the owner are available to care for this pet.

Our behavior team took her out today and noticed she was urinating blood. They brought her up to our clinic team who examined her with these findings:
"Reason for request/veterinarian's instructions: Pet came from a fire in home situation, checking for inhalation expposure changes (no coughing noted w/ manipulation and handling for rads), and urinary bladder stones.
Part: Cd Abdomen // thoraxViews: R/Lat, and VD - both
Veterinarian's observations: Lateral lungs appear to have a mild fine diffuse interstitial pattern (old dog lungs), V/D view lungs appear wnl, . Abdomen - no urinary calculi appreciated."

Here are the notes from her behavior assessment today: "ABC 175 and 181 pulled A557917 for assessment. A557917 was laying in bed in kennel and moved to back of kennel when handlers approached. 175 was able to lasso leash onto A557917. When leash was on, A557917 began to urinate. Handlers noticed urine was bloody and she was dripping blood into hallway as well. Handlers triaged her to clinic immediately. In clinic, A557917 was timid and nervous, but allowed muzzling and lifting to get onto x-ray. After medical handling, handlers took her to yard where they let her roam. A557917 was aloof and indifferent to handlers, but displayed no aggression. A557917 seems timid and leery, but allows handling. Very head-shy. Go slow."

Update 10/23: none of the boys received a rescue commitment and they were all euthanized 😞. Rest in peace Preston, Dougie, Snowy and Jack. We are so sorry boys 💔🌈.

🚨There are 4 dogs on this week's Last Chance (euthanasia) List at Orange County Animal Services, Orlando, Florida. They are Rescue Only and need fosters and rescue commitment by 6 am Wednesday morning 10/23/24 or they will be euthanized. Please help SHARE them.

➡️ Meet Preston, . This “handsome boy“ has been in and out of the shelter three times since 2020. The most recent time he was found running loose with some injuries. A microchip led back to his home, where he was quickly surrendered by his owners because he was digging holes in the yard.

Preston was described in a recent OCAS post as “a five year old snuggler; affectionate, intelligent, and strong. Preston is a sweet dog who checks all the boxes for what most adopters are looking for when they come to the shelter. Gets along with people? Check. Gets along with other dogs? Check. Young and healthy? Check. Absolutely ready for a home? Check.

“When we take Preston out, all we see is a gentle, energetic, obedient dog who seeks out affection, loves treats, and wants to be a lap dog. He shares his kennel easily but can be rowdy with other dogs." He has been paired multiple times, and loves the kiddie pool. He appears potty trained.

Preston was recently adopted but returned 11 days later. While he was good with the adopter, they said he would bark, growl and lunge at her children. For this reason Preston now needs a home with no children. He remains social seeking and affectionate, with no aggression or issues noted in the shelter.

He is 5 years old and weighs 63lbs. He is neutered and tested negative for heartworm disease.

Shelter link -> https://ocnetpets.com/Adopt/AnimalsinShelter.aspx?animalid=A452080.

➡️ Snowy first came to the shelter as a stray in 2022 and was returned to his owner. He was impounded again as a stray last month but the owner did not reclaim him this time.

At the shelter he has been easily leashed, walks well on leash and allows full handling. He seeks social, leaning against his handlers, and has been paired easily multiple times.

Snowy was quickly adopted but returned 2 days later. He was wearing an e-collar as he had recently been neutered. When the adopter went to pet him "he snapped and bit, resulting in minor injuries".

Snowy is 4 years old and weighs 46 lbs. He is neutered and tested negative for heartworm disease.

Shelter link -> https://ocnetpets.com/Adopt/AnimalsinShelter.aspx?animalid=A499738.

➡️ Dougie came to the shelter as a stray in mid July. He is friendly, easily leashed and handled, and social seeking, enjoying full body petting. He was easily paired multiple times but more recently attempts to pair him have not been successful. He is showing increasing signs of reactivity towards other animals which has been attributed to mental deterioration in the shelter environment. A home with no other pets is recommended by the shelter.

Dougie enjoyed some time in a foster home but his energy level is not suitable for apartment life. He is excited to get to the play yard and needs time to run and expend his energy before settling and engaging with his handlers.

Dougie is 4 years old and weighs 50 lbs. He is neutered and tested negative for heartworm disease.

Shelter link -> https://ocnetpets.com/Adopt/AnimalsinShelter.aspx?animalid=A552083.

➡️ Jack was impounded as a stray in September. He was avoidant but was paired with another intact male. He did not like to be picked up or to have his feet and legs touched.

Jack was adopted quickly but was returned almost a month later due to several provoked bites resulting in minor injuries. These instances arose after Jack "got out" at night or "got into" the trash in the backyard. He needs an experienced handler and a secure yard.

Jack is 4 years old and weighs 74 lbs. He is neutered and tested negative for heartworm disease.
