Temporary Facility Search AND HEALTH UPDATE on Several of our Cats for our Followers/Donors. Strong, Lucy & Abby, Buttons and NOW Sneakers...
As most of you know we have been LOOKING for a building to AT LEAST to Start with until we can raise the funds needed to build our State of the Art Facility. We WERE going to bid on a 5000+ Sq. Ft. Building in Rittman, Ohio on Thursday, June 17th, Ideal Layout for handling up to 200 cats, but would require MAJOR Clean Out, Build Out and Clean Up!! It sold for $400K in 2021 and starting bid (Foreclosure) $103K. Upon Major Research, it's in a FLOOD Area that happens often, so due to OUR cats living there, we are unfortunately PASSING on this opportunity due to RISK with our cats. However, The CHURCH (Marshallville, Ohio) we put an offer in on and posted about on August 9th, 2024 is STILL Available (Initially $229K Asking) and now reduced to $179K (5600+ Sq. Ft.) so we are reconsidering putting in another offer, will keep you updated.
Our Cats: STRONG..... Overall health wise doing good. He STILL has some complications from being HIT by a VEHICLE at 4 weeks of age (severe nerve damage). We WERE going to Amputate his tail (since he still has NO feeling in it) but due to Nerve Regrowth (extremely slow) we wanted to extend nutrition, laser & massage each night for a while. Today, his attacks on his tail (self biting) has SLOWED way down, maybe once a month or so verses a s a week. He has movement in his tail, but leans to the LEFT mostly, and only has PARTIAL control of bowel movements, leaving small SOLID droppings from time to time. His CARE has been very expensive, but worth it and were hopeful now we will see his attacks stop all together so we can STOP wrapping his tail in popsicle sticks & bandage daily.
LUCY & ABBY: Rescued 5/16/25, saved from being euthanized, Senior cats. After the TWO had Dental Surgery (unexpected) they had just recovered from that and Abby took ill. Abby went to the vets, had blood labs and then went on medication for 10 days. Since then, they BOTH are doing well. Unfortunately, during this "healing" time, they have really took to my wife & I, they pour on the love and affection and BOTH are even bed kitties!! Neither one was before we are told by the family. Abby would lay on a couch next to their original human and that was about the extent of it. Abby now lays on my wife's chest in bed and takes her NOSE and pushes against my wife's nose and just pour's on the love.
BUTTONS: Our Capture on June 8th, was fixed on June 10th, SNAP Tested Negative and was GOING to be released on the 12th after a couple days of recovery. Well, we STILL have him today. He wound up having Round and Tape Worms, Diarrhea and I'm suspecting Giardia. We got him through ONE round of Panacur with his MOIST Food, and NOW we can't get him to take the second round, so we are working through this. He is STILL Semi-Feral, hisses, attempts to bite (not hard yet) but WILL NOT let us pick him up, let alone give him medication via mouth. His NAILS need trimmed in a bad way. Other than that he is doing good and I AM able to pet his head, chest and front paws, so I am making SLOW progress.
SNEAKERS: We have had him since 2015 I believe. He is FIV Positive, and has had several health challenges, some on a regular basis (every 2 to 3 months). In the last few weeks he has dropped some weight and up through Friday 7/11/25 was still eating, active and good bathroom habits. Starting Friday (same day we took our 85 Y.O. Mother to the ER who was admitted to the hospital), Sneakers almost stopped eating (very little each time) laying around a lot, staying inside our house when he loves being outside in the habitat for hours on end. We have started him on medication we have for him here and will see how he is by tomorrow. MY GUT suspects "end of life" as based on history/health, this will be major if he does not pull through this.
If anyone would like to help with our ongoing expenses with our current 29 cats, we are a 501c3, all volunteer non-profit and all proceeds will go directly for their care. We would greatly appreciate your support!! Thanks.
