Look at this GORGEOUS lily, Shark Bait. He/she is named that bc as a hatchling, the pattern behind its little arm looked like a shark had taken a bite into the white on one of the quads. These babies and their siblings are some of the most unique lilies I've produced. Pictures dont do them justice. They have a very unique look and I cant wait to see what they look like as adults.

Myth #3: All snakes have fangs.

False. MOST venemous snakes have front fixed fangs that deliver venom like syringes through the flesh. Other venemous snakes have modified rear teeth that have grooves so they can chew the venom into their prey. This means they cant just strike and release, they strike, hold, and chew to deliver their venom. Examples of rear fang venemous snakes are: Western Hognose, False Water Cobra, Coral Snakes, Kookery Snakes, Mangrove Snakes, and even Garter Snakes. The majority of rear fanged venemous snakes (minus corals, kookery, and other species) aren't medically significant to humans unless you are allergic. So its always a good idea to learn what snakes are in your area and how to identify them.

One of the best parts of being a breeder, besides watching new life come into the world, is working with these babies to get the comfortable with people. This little EB caramel colored frog butt lily white (Heartbreaker) is one of the sweetest hatchlings feom my 2024 season. He/she is already so chill, and loves laying on my chest or arm while I give gentle head and back rubs. This one would be perfect for families with kiddos. The GORGEOUS tangerine lily here is a holdback for me for future breeding seasons. Hodge Podge stays this beautiful light tangerine color, and is another very chill baby. I get to work with some amazing lizards, snakes, Amphibians, and inverts. #

Myth #2: You can tell by the shape of a snakes head if its venemous or not. Triangular heads are always venemous.

This is not only false, but dangerous. Some of the most venemous snakes in the world have more rounded regular looking heads, like coral snakes. Also alot of non-venomous snakes use mimicry to look like venemous species in their area so predators will leave them alone. For example, to resemble pit vipers, like rattle snakes, here in the south, non-venomous rat snakes will flatten their heads to resemble the head of pit vipers, and they will also rattle their tails to mimic a rattlesnake. Alot of non-venomous snakes use mimicry to try and protect themselves. Sadly this back fires when it comes to humans. People kill them thinking they are venemous. Another example in mimicry is milk snakes. Their stripes and colors resemble that of coral snakes which predators cant tell apart. Bright colors often mean poisonous in the animal/reptile world. Mimicry is an AMAZING defense mechanism, but can also be confusing for humans when they try to tell the difference between whats safe and whats not. Bottom line: If you dont know what it is, 100%, dont touch. Don't try and kill it either. Just leave it alone. (Most bites happen when people try to catch or kill the snake) Leave them alone and they will leave you alone!

Myth #1: Reptiles get all the moisture/water they need from the bugs, vegetation, or prey items that they eat.

This is FALSE. While, yes they do get some moisture from their food, (and some get their primary source from their food) everything living needs water. Some reptiles drink more off leaves and branches in their enclosures, but they ALL need access to fresh water. Some species only drink from moving water sources like drippers, some drink from shallow water dishes, and some need to soak to stay hydrated. Every species is different, but they ALL need access to fresh clean water. Research the species you want and make sure they always have constant access to clean water!

One of my passions with animals, namely reptiles and amphibians, is education. I love to teach people. So I thought it would be fun if we did a little myth busting. I apologize I haven't posted in a while, and I haven't exactly been organized with the Black Friday sale going on. Our family has suffered a great loss, and we have been trying to cope. But I do want to offer something special for the weekend. I am offering 25% off all geckos. Anyone who has purchased from me before will get the 25% off plus a free culture of isopods of their choosing (Ill provide a list of available species). I also have deals on our corn snakes we have available as well. [I am holding back quite a few babies this season bc of the quality and genetics, so we will have a release on some of those in 2025, so if you had your eyes on one of my newer babies, bare with me, they may become available later on loves.]
