Day 2 of Pa FFA State Convention and Activities for Oxford FFA on the beautiful Penn State campus So much energy and a wee bit of giddy exhaustion along with many band aids for sore feet in dress shoes These teens really learn how to navigate some big challenges and big feelings all held together and channeled into positive growth by that blue corduroy jacket. They are at once both a family group and individuals all connected into one glorious chaotic adventure that is FFA.

Oxford FFA is at Penn State University for the 2025 Pa State FFA Conference. We have a Horse Evaluation team, and then individuals competing in Aquatics, Forestry, Wildlife and Milk Quality. We also have our first State Officer Candidate in a very long time. Some are first years just starting this FFA pathway and some seniors are wrapping up 4 years and now moving on to new journeys but each of them makes a lasting mark on our chapter. We Believe in the future of agriculture!

Small but mighty - 3 new FFA Chapter degrees and 7 Greenhands added to the “jacket actives”. As an affiliation state, every student in an ag class is automatically in FFA but not all choose to follow the Blue and Gold road. We are thrilled with the energy and potential that is developing here at Oxford Area High School.

So we did a thing … Oxford FFA hosted a farm animal meet and greet for staff and students at school. We had a beautiful day and lots of interactions both human and critter alike. The idea was to have some time to breathe a little easy just before all the pressures of state testing, AP tests, finals and graduation prep that come with the rest of the month. Thank you to administrators and security for your support and flexibility and a huge shout out to the FFA kids that made it happen. There were a lot of moooooving pieces but we learned a lot and know that there is a lot of opportunity to grow and learn and share our belief in agriculture.

A late start and a blustery day did nothing to stop Oxford FFA from showing up for the Spring Regional FFA Career Development Events or CDEs. Students competed in Floriculture, Vet Science, Wildlife, Livestock Evaluation, or Farm Business Management. Hoping some of them will continue their CDE of choice this June at Penn State University for the State FFA Convention. WE BELIEVE!

A little snack outreach to the farmers and truckers bringing in the harvest at Hostetter Grain Inc. Thank you to the less than 2% of the producers feeding the other 98%. Proud to be in a farming community and proud that Oxford FFA could put together a little free range snack station in the weigh ticket office Shout out to Herr's for helping us with the chips. Another wonderful Oxford community Halloween parade in the books. So, very proud of the teamwork and dedication of our Oxford FFA youth. It took lots of planning, prep, and follow through. Well done! Shout out to Atlantic Tractor for providing the tractor and driver for us and to Cecil County Fair for the use of a wagon.

June 11-13 when most students were already sleeping in for summer vacation , these fine FFA folks chose to attend and compete at the PA State FFA Convention. I am beyond proud of our Oxford youth, 5th place team out of 15 teams for Horse Evaluation with a 5th place individual out of 97 contestants. Two of our horse team were first year doing this CDE. In Wildlife we had 5th place individual out of 87 contestants, and 5th place individual in Meats Evaluation out of 31 contestants. Overall there were more than 2000 students, advisors , speakers, judges, and guests sharing the stage at the Bryce Jordan Center and multiple venues throughout the main campus PSU. What a great real life experience and fun opportunity for Oxford FFA. We believe in the future of agriculture and more importantly the future of growing young leaders!
