ICYMI—we let the kids talk us into keeping the kitten. They are so far putting in some helpful time around the farm to offset more vet bills🤪

Thanks to all who voted on his name—WALTER was the winner and so that’s his name—kids are calling him Wally❤️

He’s already getting bigger fast! So now along with horse adventures you get KITTEN adventures 👍😍

We keep a good relationship with our vet and farrier and keep our horses all up to date with shots, teeth, and coggins. Routine herd maintenance is so important for the horses health, but also if you expect a response in an emergency!

Today everybody got their fall shots, and got their teeth checked, coggins where needed. Both mares got their teeth floated, and little Royal man got his sheath cleaned for the first time (yearling). All of them were very well behaved, little man included 👍

We are so grateful for the knowledge and care shared by Dr. Heikkila and Hannah of Acorn Equine Veterinary Service. Dr. Heikkila has been Duchess’s vet since she was young, supported us through breeding challenges, then foaling challenges, hand raising a baby, and now dealing with laminitis after effects. THANK YOU for always being there for us and our crew ❤️

Let’s talk about ongoing care—chiropractic and massage! 💥

Our horses are athletes for us, whether competing in dressage, jumping, driving, trail riding, or even just tooling around at home (which we love). If we expect them to carry and work for us, we need to give them routine care to support that!

Yesterday Money and Chase had a visit from and are so thankful for their adjustments! They both just needed small tweaks, but that’s how we like to keep it. Preventative care before they are really sore or out of alignment.

Though they haven’t had massages recently, we typically incorporate that in their care as needed also.

Our horses are our therapy, our partners, our safe haven. Make sure to work with a farm that treats them as such ❤️

Chase had his mane cleaned up and rebraided yesterday with the help of our fav EquiFUSE products!

We keep all of our Gypsy horses hair braided up with electrical tape to hold the folded up braids, but before that they get a good soaking spray of the magic potion— Rehydrinse with a little bit of Gleam added to the mix— this helps keep the hair healthy and soft when in braids for long-term turnout. No need to rebraid all the time, they’ll come out soft and tangle free!

Like this and FOLLOW for more hair tips!

We recently had the pleasure of hosting our kids 4H group and we taught everyone about our Gypsy cobs, about the history of where the term “Gypsy Vanner” comes from, why we call them Gypsy cobs (preferred by the people originally breeding these horses in the UK), and what they are used for and what they’re good at.

Gypsy horses are SO versatile, and should be docile enough for kids to handle. They also were originally bred and used to drive the Romany peoples caravans (vardo).

Since Adam drives and I (Monique) ride, we were instantly drawn to this breed and have loved having horses that do both.

Our gelding Chase was the demo horse—Adam taught them all about the parts of the harness and how it is used, and then they each got to try ground driving him. He and all the 4H kids did amazing and we can’t wait to do more another day. 🐴 😊

To you this may just look like a couple of horses in the dark…but this makes me hopeful.

That’s Duchess outside at 10:30pm not wanting to come in. She’s been getting in and out slightly better lately and spending time outside in the morning and evening, which she and Porsche are very happy about.

Glimmers of progress ❤️

Not sure if Duchess will ever get back to anything close to this, but if not that’s ok. Tonight I’m reminiscing on wonderful times with her—here’s a few from the GypsyLive show this summer at the Kentucky Horse Park.

She always does whatever we ask and is the best girl ❤️

Duchess is the dam to Royal, our yearling c**t who is available 👍

More baths today! We did Sunni and Chase—keeping up with 5 Gypsies hair takes a lot and we are thankful to get some caught up the last couple days!

We love our EquiFUSE products to keep them looking good! After they are clean they get Rehydrinse sprayed all over and all through name and tail, with a little Gleam mixed in for shine and detangling. It’s the magic potion we’ve used for years to keep their hair healthy when we braid it up for turnout, or shows or whatever they get into!

Chase is available for partial lease if someone would like to come ride and hang out with him! Message for details!

Thanks to Meagan, some of the crew here today got a cleanup on this HOT day. She and Money had a nice ride around the farm followed by a bath this morning.

Then she did some braid cleanup for both Porsche and Duchess—yep Duchess got her tail soaked in our favorite EquiFUSE products and then her tail rebraided!

Look who was outside for the first time for a little while today—DUCHESS!! ❤️

Out awesome farrier Jacob was here in the heat to work on everyone and came out to check Duchess, who has been stalled for about 6 weeks other than the last time she got her wedge shoes on. He had us let her walk out in the dry lot and she came over to the hay and stood there for him to trim her back feet. Her front are still too sore so the wedges stayed where they are for now, and we will do new X-rays to check rotation before he sees her again so that he can work together with our vet, Dr. Heikkila from Acorn Equine Veterinary Service. Huge thank you to both of them for supporting Duchess (and all of our crew).

She came in at dinner and ate and then laid down for a rest, but our hearts are happy seeing her out and we are sure she feels a bit better too ❤️

Waiting out laminitis rotation is terrible. Duchess has had big wedge front shoes on for about 4 weeks but still hasn’t left the barn. She has moved between her stall and the connecting stall but that’s about it. She loves to lay down right after she gets her stall cleaned—she’s bedded on heavy deep peat moss so it’s softer for her.

Please continue praying for our girl. She’s a fighter but we hate to see her hurting for so long. We love you Duchess❤️❤️

🚨Legendary Royal T Party — Yearling Gypsy c**t available 🚨

Born 5-7-2023, GVHS registered (11831)
Dam: RHF Legendary Duchess
Sire: The Tax Man

☑️ Very well put together, sweet head, nice hip & shoulder
☑️ Fancy mover
☑️ In-tact stud C**t

👑 Has been leading since he was very young (3 weeks old) so is very used to being haltered and led
👑 stands tied at a single tie very well & started cross-tying
👑 very social, we have been very hands on & he isn’t spooky
👑 Has seen the farrier regularly and is a good boy for his feet

👑 Recent show experience (GypsyLive in KY)--he showed in halter classes and in-hand trail and did very well. He got 2nd in the Weanling/Yearling c**ts class, and also placed 6th in Junior Horse in hand trail! It was his first time off the farm and you wouldn't have known--he's very well handled and was a very well behaved boy.

☑️ He has a current negative coggins and is up to date on all shots and vet visits
☑️ Has old traditional Gypsy cob lines in his pedigree, including Duke of Running Winds, Nobby, The Rocking Horse, Falcon, The Bunny Mare, Sh**un, and Sid’s Good Stallion.

Royal’s mama is a “do anything” performance horse and we’ve raised her since she was a weanling. She rides, drives, trail rides, shows, etc. His sire is the sweetest stallion, and also rides and drives. Between the two of them, Royal will be able to do anything and has the amazing Gypsy cob temperament.

His price will increase as he gets more show miles, so snag him up now and he will be ready to go with you the rest of the year!

Located in Oxford OH (USA) and happy to arrange a visit for serious inquiries.

Meagan is my wing woman and always here for us and is putting some rides on Chase as she has time, but he’s still available for partial lease to the right person that wants to come join our peaceful spot👍

Monique got to get out to the barn and help with cleaning Duchess’s stall. Yay!

Sadly Duchess was X-rayed while Monique was in the hospital and has considerable rotation in both front feet. It came on so quickly 😢 She now has wedge shoes on to help but is still in considerable pain. Our vet believes she can come back from this but it will be a long road. It’s devastating to see her like this.

While we were out there Duchess and Sunni had a moment over the stall gate and were grooming each other ❤️ He has been watching over her closely—good boy 🥰

FARM NEWS

I ( Monique) was in a terrible Riding accident about 2.5 weeks ago. It was a lovely evening and I was taking Porsche out for a walk around the farm after she had not been ridden for quite some time, with her being off for her stifle surgery and treatment and then laminitis. We started out with a nice walk and she was jigging and feeling good so I let her trot. I trotted her over a ground pole several times, and when I went to go over it again, the other way she jumped it. I laughed at her and told her she was being silly and that was cute and then about two seconds later she started bucking. I think they were happy bucks, but she has huge big bucks, and I sat out the first one, but on the second or third (I am not sure) I was thrown over her head and landed straight on my head and neck.

To keep a very long story a little shorter, I had spinal surgery for a spinal cord injury and had one of my vertebrae removed 2.5 weeks ago. I was in the ICU for several days and in the hospital several more, followed by five days in an inpatient rehab facility.

God had had his hand on me that day, and I am very blessed to be here and not fully paralyzed. I am now home and recovering here, but still very weak and it will be a while before I’m out and about around the farm very much.

I miss the horses, but I am not strong enough to handle them. Since I am the farm mama and social media manager, you probably won’t see a lot from us for a little while as Adam is trying to do everything.

Please keep me in your prayers, count your blessings and hug your horses. ❤️
