I started Dry Creek Doodles because of my lifelong love of dogs and my retirement! I now have some of that precious commodity called time, to do what I have always wanted, breed and have puppies. Time to do research into new and innovative training methods and health testing that would enable my puppies to face the challenges in life. Time to train myself, so that my puppies would have the best chance of becoming โrock starsโ with their new families. In my search I found Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and Puppy Culture both are wonderful training protocols. Talk about coming out of the dark ages in puppy training! ENS is a process of stimulating the neurological system in very young puppies, which improves the growth and development of the pupโs immune system, cardiovascular system and stress tolerance. The philosophy of Puppy Culture is based on the premise that the puppy always leads the learning, and that puppies learn best by appropriate experiences at the appropriate time. By letting the puppy lead we are: maximizing the benefit of any given lesson, minimizing and danger of overwhelming or scaring the puppy, creating confidence and self-efficacy by presenting the appropriate level of challenge that the puppy CAN do without failing. Finally Puppy Culture teaches owners enjoy each puppy for the precious individual he is, to coax out the best qualities in that puppy, rather than holding the puppy up to an arbitrary yardstick and labeling him as a problem if he does not measure up. Last but definitely not least is DNA testing. With the advances in genetic testing you can predict with certainty, whether your puppies will have any inheritable diseases, even if they will shed or not. All of my pack have been tested for relevant heath issues for their breed, and all clear through Embark DNA Testing. So please do your research into any breeder you look at, find one that will work very hard to give you a wonderful, confident, healthy, ready to meet life, companion.
