Quilted Affair

Quilted Affair Turning today's treasured memories into tomorrow's heirloom quilts My name is Ashley and I'm an airframe design engineer who loves to quilt.

I live in sunny Palm Bay, FL with my husband Ryan, my dog Willow, and my cat KC (none of whom are allowed in my sewing studio, heehee). I have a bedroom devoted to my sewing (I call it the "Quilting Haven") and I am constantly making quilted gifts for friends and family. I've made everything from a re-usable coffee sleeve to a monogrammed bed quilt - I love a challenge! I never seem to have much l

isted in my Etsy shop because I keep filling up my calendar with projects for friends and friends-of-friends. But 2013 is a new year and I hope to focus more effort on filling my shop and exposing more people to my fun and wonderful creations. Feel free to contact me with any special requests. You can reach me via facebook or an Etsy message. Now it's time to get back to sewing!

It's been a long time since I posted on here, but I finally got the sewing room set back up and finished a quilt that I started a few years ago and never got around to completing. This one wasn't for a customer so I think I will end up giving it to one of my friends who are gators fans

Last time I showed you Robin's quilt, I had finished cutting all the shirts and was working on interfacing them. I had cut squares out of the baby blankie but not replaced them. Really, I had...

Ever wonder how i turn some of the more complicated clothing pieces into simple squares? Check out today's post to see one example

Once I got approval on the "rough" layout for each of the quilts, it was time to start cutting and working on the items that needed to be appliqued. I also especially wanted to show how I deal with...

Earlier this year I finally got started working on Greyson's Gator quilt. I've gotten so behind on posting but I figured better late than never :)

When my first niece was born, my sister in law asked if I would make a bed spread for her when she was ready to move into her "big girl bed". So we decided that would be a 2nd birthday gift. Well...

As part of our less junk less waste challenge, I made some homemade pasta a while ago with my grandmother's pasta maker. Came out pretty darn delicious :)

In our quest to reduce the junk we eat and decrease preservatives and packaging in our foods, we continue to try to make things from scratch. One of the latest adventures has been making pasta by...

Over Christmas break, Amanda and I finally got started on her KU tshirt quilt that I offered to make as a graduation present. It was fun to get to work on it a little bit together :)

In May 2014, my younger sister Amanda graduated from the University of Kansas (KU). We all flew out to KS to be there for her graduation and to celebrate together. Can you guess what my gift to...

Goodbye 2014, Hello 2015!

It's kind of funny how the change of the year leads us all to look back on what we did and make new plans for the coming year. I mean, we could look back and review what we've been doing at...

Finally finished Michelle's tshirt quilt, thank goodness for friends who are patient...but it came out wonderfully and should give her years of use!

I just finished a t-shirt quilt for my friend Michelle and it took me a long time. And I mean a REALLY long time. It wasn't complex - it didn't take more physical hours of labor than other...
