With the exception of Zenji, all of the dogs here are rescued from L.A. Zenji is the result of a well planned breeding program aimed at improving the Korean Jindo breed. The rest of the gang are pound hounds. Sadly, Zenji (Ch. Achim of Yooshin) crossed the Bridge back in October 2021. His death was unexpectedly due to kidney failure at just seven years old which was probably genetic. His breeder d

isowned him right after getting his DNA for testing. They never expressed care or concern for him or me during an incredibly difficult time. In fact they were in obedience training with Zenji and I for 14 weeks, only giving us the cold shoulder. Nuff said. The Rockin Red Dog is not a 501c(3) non profit. We work very closely with two dedicated non – profit dog rescues but are financially independent of them. A Passion for Paws Akita rescue has allowed over 40 Akita and Akita mixes to move through The Rockin Red Dog. Two Dog Farms Jindo Rescue has been a pillar in Jindo rescue for almost a decade. Many Jindos have had the good fortune of being saved in our team efforts as well.

And then there is Star. She really is a superstar in her own pitty way. Labeled a Jindo mix by the shelter. She isn’t. But what she is is always entertaining and super smart. She has her star puppy and CGC plus going through snake aversion training. She loves to learn and to please. Although she has an abundance of energy she channels it nicely. She is very happy to hang in her crate as long as she can get out occasionally to frolick. Star is about two years old, spayed, chipped and current on her vaccinations. Star is available for adoption through Two Dog Farms, Inc. She is being fostered in Palmdale CA

Akira has come so far since arriving here. She’s fully recovered from her spay. She’s getting a vet check this week and then it’s off to A Passion for Paws Akita Ranch where she will get the exposure she needs. Akira has a lovely Akita temperament. It will be hard seeing her off. But this is the point of rescue. Saving dogs and getting them adopted. She was in line to be euthanized. Too many dogs out there

Lately I’ve been visiting shelters way more than I want to. So many dogs. So today for the first time in a while, I was asked to check out three American Akitas. The beautiful girl in the video is available NOW! Hopefully akita rescue can help her out. I will post the boys separately. It was a tough visit. People waiting in line to dump their dogs. Lots of puppies.

Yesterday I went to do an initial evaluation of these two sweet ladies. They were dumped at the high kill Palmdale/LA County shelter by a family member because dad had a stroke and was in hospital. Although I wasn’t able to handle them I am comfortable saying they are typical Jindos. They were very calm and obviously confused. Two Dog Farms is willing to rescue them if there is a dedicated foster. I can help with pulling them and transport. They are too sweet to die in the shelter.
