Here's a little history of how we ended up with our farm name. For many years, we raised dairy goats and exported them internationally. Hurricane Michael hit our area and pretty much destroyed all our barns and 20 years of goat equipment. It really took the wind out of our sails, and we decided to sell the dairy goat herd. It was bitter sweet. I miss my goats every day, but I don't miss all the hard work that we put in to maintain the herd.
Indio Gigante Acres was born about 2 years ago when we discovered this amazingly large chicken like no other. We wanted to make sure we had the best lines, researched extensively and contacted Rare Rooster Acres, Elise Souza, to get a group of chicks from her. We raised up the chicks and ended up only having all hens! So the search begain to find an RRA roo. Then life happened and put things on hold. My dad passed away, my husbands sister, and 3 other people that were close (like family) passed away. We are glad to see 2024 out of here and welcomed 2025!
What now? We are focused on making our Indio Gigantes amazing following the breed SOP. We love the RRA line. Why? They are BIG birds that have amazing dispositions and beautiful to look at and RRA strives at perfection. We are finally hatching chicks this year. We will be keeping some and letting some venture elsewhere. Let us know if you are looking!
We wanted to share a few pictures of our Indio Gigantes. We have 2 mature roos that want new pastures.
