It’s gray and rainy, with colder temperatures on the way. All the horses are happily eating hay and don’t seem to notice the changing weather. Nobody was shivering or nervous at the last check. They’re just standing in the rain eating and wondering why I keep going out to bother them.🤣

We’re well prepared for whatever comes though! There’s a brand new round bale of alfalfa on the tractor for tomorrow, and the hay huts are full.🤗

Next time you’re out, stop into the tack shack and grab your package!🤔🫢 Yep. That sounds right.🤣

Even with the cooler, damp weather, the horses are still happy and comfortable. Here’s a quick video I took this morning when I went out to feed.

The cold weather hasn’t bothered the horses at all. They’re all doing fine and enjoying some of our home-grown alfalfa.

Ran across this picture from 2020. We had just moved in, and were figuring out where the dry lots would go, how to turn the run-down shed into a tack shack, and how to clean up all those trees.

We are so blessed to be here four years later and have such amazing people sharing this property with us!

The weather next week is supposed to get very cold. Since we’ve had so much rain this past week lots of our horses are covered in mud. That mud will prevent them from being able to fluff their coat and stay warm in the cold weather

Please be sure to check on your horse and make sure that they don’t have big muddy patches so that they can stay warm in the cold weather.

Remember, you can store winter blankets in the shack on the top shelf. If the weather turns bad and you can’t get out here we will blanket your horse for you if they need it .

We’ve had lots of much needed rain lately. The ground is very soft, so if you head this way to ride, please stay on the mulched areas, and ONLY ride on the road or in the round pen.

THANK YOU!

Staying informed and proactive about Pigeon Fever is vital to protecting your horses. Pigeon Fever is a tough bacterial infection, but with early detection and proper care, you can help your horse recover. Most importantly, keep an eye out for swelling and abscesses, and always consult your vet!

It’s been pretty dry for the last several weeks. The grass in the grazing pen has almost completely died off. It’s time to close it for the season and let it recover.

You are always welcome to graze your horses by hand in the open pastures.

Sean has been working hard refinishing tables and things. If you see orange cones near anything made of wood, don’t sit stand or put anything on it. Those cones mean it is drying.

Thank you!

Today Sushi got her first ride since she came to me!! She’s put on enough weight that a short 10 minute ride in the round pen was no longer a health risk. She was such a good girl!!

The trails have been widened and extended to the edge of our property line back in the trees!! It’s a nice walk or hack out on horseback.

You can’t get lost because all the trails are interconnected and will bring you back to the trailhead. (Unless you just go in circles!🤣)

Enjoy!
