The 2023 Denver Metro Mounted Patrol School is in the books. Thanks to the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office for hosting and the wonderful staff of the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds for being so accommodating. We graduated 26 riders from 8 different agencies. It was a long difficult week, and everyone came together and worked hard. I can't thank this group of dedicated professionals enough. Ride safe my friends and we will see you down the trail.

Day - 4. Arrest control, crowd management, fi****ms, vehicle escorts, and a visit from the bagpipes. Of course, it wouldn't be complete without mother nature giving us some severe t-storms and hail in the end.

All smiles because they are looking forward to next month's school! Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it anyhow. Unfortunately, the Denver Metro area basic school is full. We are looking at the possibility of a second school later in the fall. We have also had a lot of interest in hosting another mounted instructor development training. Every good trail has a beginning and an end. Yesterday I had the most amazing retirement ceremony a guy could ask for after a 38 year career. Thank you to everyone who made my special day truly special. Now I can concentrate on training and whatever it is retired guys do. I ain’t dead yet. And yes, I got to keep my saddle 🤠

School information: Open to full-time, part-time, or volunteer members of an accredited government or law enforcement agency. Coursework includes basic horsemanship/equitation, groundwork, administrative and tactical formations, crowd control, search and rescue, defensive tactics, mounted arrest control, pedestrian and traffic contacts, fi****ms (blanks), confidence building, horse sensory training, obstacle course work, and reality-based training. Cost is $450.00 per student and includes a stall at the facility.

It's that time in Denver. The National Western Stock Show parade. Unfortunately, I am still on medical leave so I couldn't ride up front. I rode with my riding group, the Roundup Riders of the Rockies. Felt a little odd not wearing a uniform for once but at least I still got to ride. This incredible group of Officers came down to our staging area to say hi. It was a great parade and a fun day. I have to say, this visit was the highlight. You all will never know what it meant to me, and I can't put it into words. I am truly blessed to be associated with you all.

Last parade of the year. This is what it's all about. Parker Police Honor Guard followed by Mounted Officers and Deputies from Parker PD, Lone Tree PD, Denver PD, Douglas County SO, Denver SO, Arapahoe County SO. To say I am proud of this group would be an understatement.
