“Churro con Queso with a Dash of Ginger”
Here we go again! If you didn’t meet him last week, let me introduce you to the newest (and sweetest 😉) member of our pack: Churro! Like his big brother Queso, he’s a Golden Retriever and will hopefully grow into another fantastic model. Queso has already stepped up as the BEST big brother, though in this image, he looks as exhausted as the rest of us feel! 😝

The warm, monochromatic tones in this image were inspired by Pantone’s Color of the Year: Mocha Mousse. Capturing this moment took some finesse - I used a remote trigger and swapped it between hands to ensure I had two "good" hands for the final frame, effectively removing the visible remote. (This is not my first rodeo! 🤠) As always, you can find the behind the scenes in the first comment.

“All Wrapped Up!”
Don’t the best presents come in tiny packages?? We are beyond thrilled to introduce the newest member of our family… Churro!! 🐾 We’re absolutely smitten, and also a little strung-out and sleep-deprived. 😴🥴😂 Queso wasted no time showing Churro the ropes - introducing him to all the best backyard spots, sharing toys, and, of course, teaching him the finer points of bitey-face. 🐶 Though snuggling is still a work in progress, I’m confident that will come soon. 💖 This is a 3-image focus stack and is a Redo of Week 40: A Quiet Moment (with Golden Ratio as the extra challenge – not sure it meets that tho! 🙃) BTS 👇🏻

“A Christmas Tail”
This concept has been on my must-shoot List for what feels like forever. (Okay, since 2016 - close enough, right? 🙃) I think I first saw the idea from , but since he wasn’t even born until 2020, who knows where the inspiration truly began. 🤷‍♀️ Either way, I’ve been itching to try this fun twist on holiday cheer for years. Naturally, I knew my always-wagging Queso wouldn’t sit still long enough to pull it off alone, so I called in reinforcements - hubby and a strategically placed licky mat to the rescue! 👅😁 BTS 👇🏻

“nibbled”
I cannot remember which of our puppies took a little bite out of this dog bed. It very well could have been Queso, but it also could have been one of the goldens that came before him… Acorn, Mango, Kola, or Pergo. (Well, it wouldn’t have been Acorn or Mango, but I couldn’t type that list without including them. 🥺) It’s a good, comfy bed, that has served our pooches well, so we’ve kept it all these years even though it’s a little “worn”. “Chilly Cheese Dog”
We took a quick trip up to our mountain “Nook” this weekend, which Queso loves. 🐾 It’s super dog-friendly, so we enjoy off-leash snow walks and “yappy hour” with others for fetch & socialization. Puppy paradise! After arriving, we rushed to get to the local “beach” (a picnic table next to the river) before the sun set. While there was a little bit of light, it certainly wasn’t sunny, and my white balance needed a MAJOR adjustment in the post process. (Even the iPhone made everything crazy blue!) Queso wasn’t interested in staying put for long, so I was too close and cut off his feet in shot #1, and it was too tight at the top in shot #2, so I combined those frames into this one. ✨ BTS 👇🏻

“Deck the Halls, Later”
The histogram for this image is squarely to the left, but I still imagine it’s going to be a lot more colorful than other submission we’ll see this week, and I am A-okay with that!! 😅 It was a holiday week, both boys were home, and we were busy living – so 52F took a back seat. I find I do my best work when I plan ahead, come up with ideas & unique locations, and recruit models – but that’s not sustainable for me week after week. I happen to have a willing in-house model, so it’s verrrrry easy to get lazy! I’m hoping 2025 will bring more exciting images to your screens. 💚❤️🎄 BTS 👇🏻

“Sleigh It Ain’t So!”
A couple of weeks ago, we received about two feet of snow in four days - perfect for fun, high-energy, high-key photos, but two weeks too early for this prompt. 😖 Some snow patches remain, so Queso, a friend (to help keep an eye out for golf course distractions), and I headed out our back gate to make the most of it. It was unusually cold and windy, but Queso posed like a pro, and we were only out there for six minutes (thank you time stamps!). Although I removed the houses in subsequent edits, I left them here for context, so you can see the hill’s pitch. 😉 Please keep an eye on my socials - Queso (& this image!) will return soon with some great holiday shopping tips! 🎁 BTS 👇🏻
