Dr. Lorena Bertolo recently graduated from the Atlantic Veterinary College in Charlottetown, Canada. She and her husband recently relocated from Tucson, AZ, to Apollo Beach, FL. She has worked in the veterinary industry for the last 12 years and is excited to begin her career as a veterinarian at Dr. Nina’s Animal Hospital. Her keen interest in behavioral medicine and Elite Fear Free Certification help her bring a gentle, cooperative approach to patient handling.

She shares her home with her two dogs, Cash and Scarlett, and two cats, Tucker and Kitana.

Meet Franklin! Franklin was surrendered to us 2 weeks ago and is very overweight. Obesity is common in cats, affecting up to 63% of these sweet babies. Obesity can lead to a number of health problems including but not limited to increased inflammation which can worsen arthritis, diabetes, skin issues, and urinary problems. Our friends at Hills were very generous and donated some Metabolic + Urinary food to start Franklin on his weight loss journey. Just 2 weeks ago he weighed in at 20.4 lbs and today he weighs 19.4 lbs. He loves the food!

We provide a range of services for pets of the community!

Vaccinations. Vaccinations help boost your pet's immune system and protect your pet from serious medical conditions. Vaccinations are also important for public safety, because they prevent the spread of diseases like rabies. Pets are first vaccinated when they're very young, and when they're older, they're given booster shots. We'll help you keep your pet on schedule by reminding you when shots are due.

Spaying and neutering. Spaying and neutering your pet can prevent unwanted pet pregnancies. This procedure can also help regulate your pet's behavior and reduce your pet's risk for certain illnesses later on in life.

Surgery. We provide surgeries for pets in need. From emergency care to planned medical procedures, we'll provide your pet with the best medical care in the Sarasota area.

Diagnostics. We'll diagnose your pet's condition to ensure that your pet gets the treatment he or she needs in order to recover.

Wellness exams. Wellness exams help catch your pet's medical conditions before they become serious. Preventative care can improve your pet's quality of life and extend your pet's life expectancy.

Pet dental care. We'll examine and clean your pet's teeth, fill cavities whenever necessary and perform extractions as needed. Our pet dental services can help protect your pet from gum disease, tooth loss, tooth pain and more.
