Our classes have been temporarily stopped due to the Park's closure and the Rose Bowl's effort to assist those from the fire. We will keep you posted as soon as the City has re-opened the park to us. Be Safe. We had several members who lost their home - so relief to all will be available.

Conformation Handling Classes will start Thursday, January 9th, at 7:30pm. This is a drop-in class, and start on preparation for those shows coming up! Professional Handler will be your instructor, Julie Kay.

Hey!! Kindergarten Puppy Class starts Thursday January 9th, at 6:30pm. 6-week class, 3 months to 5.5 months of age. Join us and have fun as well as learning how quick your pup will learn.

Mark your calendars - January 9th, 6:30pm AKC STAR Puppy Class will start the beginning of the year. Check AKC.org for any additional information on the requirements on the official title. This is a 7-week class, puppies 6 months - 12 months, a lot of fun and a lot to learn!!

The AKC National Championship Presented by Royal Canin® will air as a three-hour special on the ABC television network on December 29th, 2024, at 2 p.m. ET. The show features thousands of dogs from around the country and the world competing for the coveted title of America’s National Champion.

Hosting the broadcast are AKC Executive Secretary and spokesperson Gina DiNardo and noted sportscaster Carolyn Manno. This year’s AKC National Championship is the largest dog show in North America, with 5,637 dogs entered in Conformation from 50 states and Washington, DC, and all around the world. That, combined with competitions in Agility, Obedience, the National Owner-Handled Series Finals, junior competitions, and the inaugural AKC RACH (Rally Champion) Invitational, brings the total entries to a staggering 9,441. Dogs will compete for multiple titles across various events, with the owner of the Best in Show winner receiving $50,000.

Teaching these service dogs these behaviors covers many other tasks they are required. The "touch bump" can also be a reward behavior marker in your training as well as in your training and completion of a simple trick for their Trick Dog Title requirement. Always have fun!

A lot of time between now and Christmas and New Years. Keep up with your lessons. It's too easy to take vacation. Dogs will be learning or can unlearn. They can benefit from training multiple times a day at short intervals. Teach tricks (check AKC for all the tricks they use) to keep them mentally active. Don't forget to get them out walking too! Puppies in class, review your lesson plan and many of you will be ready for the 6 month old AKC STAR Puppy Program. Remember, when you're interacting with them you are "training"! Start with a "paw to handshake" and once the pup has learned that, you can build off of that for a "high five".
