Ok...so this is Rip. Like Hella we bought him at an auction and saved him from being bought and taken to slaughter in either Mexico or Canada. If you don't believe me that this is actually happening, please do your own research. But I caution you,what you find will break your heart. So, after our efforts to save Hella failed we decided to do something about this atrocity. Not only do we want to rescue these souls, we want to bring awareness to the situation. Everyone knows about puppy mills,and dogs in shelters. Hell,that's where Rex and I started 7 years ago. Rescuing dogs. While that is a noble thing indeed. This is a big issue,that most people are very unaware of.
Ripp was beaten profusely by his previous owner before making it to the kill pen. He is a race horse,and in his younger days had a great track record,but due to an injury. He could no longer make anyone money. So before they threw him away, they made sure to beat the money out of him. PLEASE help us in our efforts to save Percherons. The auction we go to,has them alot because of the Amish population. They put them in the fields before they are fully grown. They work them to exhaustion, and bring them to the point of near starvation. And when they have squeezed every last bit of good out of these creatures, they take them to most certain slaughter. I can honestly say,until recently I was clueless about all of this going on under our noses. So, please help us save them and raise awareness.....

The gofundme that was created, is in order to save horses from the auction in October, horses who cannot be saved, end up in kill pens going to Mexico or Canada. In Mexico especially they do not have the same regulations we do when it comes to humanely putting animals down. So if you can, please help us save these animals. If you cannot, please share it so maybe someone who sees it, can.

The story of Hella:
Hella came to us to from an Amish farm, she was used as a plow horse from a young age. Unfortunately, the horses she came to the sale barn with, passed away there. When we got her, she was 18 years old and was about 600 pounds underweight. Hella was very sweet once she realized we would not hurt her. She developed some issues where she had a hard time holding herself up and became wobbly. After noticing this, she was seen by both a veterinarian and a chiropractor several times to help her get better. For a time, she did seem to be getting better, until this morning (08/26/2020) when she went down and could no longer get up. To end her suffering, we put her humanely to rest so she would no longer be in pain. We have started this rescue in honor of her.
