Boy am I waaaaay behind on doing my usual puppy updates. Akino & Rhys' babies are 9 weeks old now, all spoken for and so dang cute! I love this pair and how darling and tiny these babies are! Plus they have such fun little personalities! 🥰

I apologize for the radio silence. Petal was unable to make progress with the puppy. His head would come through her pelvic opening but I could not get him to progress any further. My vet met me at her clinic and went into a c-section.

Her little boy was born with a good heartbeat but we struggled to get him to not only breath but to keep heat, dropping several degrees any time we took him off heat for anything. (ie to take his temp, give him meds to help his breathing, ect.) And he could not go long without oxygen before he went purple again.
We spent multiple hours working on getting him stable, but in the end he just couldn't keep any body heat or breath without oxygen. He faded on us very quickly and went very peacefully.

Petal made it through surgery perfectly, she's doing great, eating, drinking, using the bathroom. She's doing phenomenal. It was a tough day with a lot of high emotions and a lot of crying. I ask for some privacy for my family while we grieve her baby and focus on Petal healing.
