Thank you so much to everyone who has sponsored Kiely’s care! We are starting our first package with the behavioral specialist by the end of the month. Kiely is doing well and is very excited her brother is back home finally!

She is responding well to the initial clicker training we started after the consult with our behavioral specialist. This opportunity to work with her specialist is already giving Kiely confidence and some tools to deal with her anxiety.

I plan to update this page with Kiely’s progress during training. Thank you so much again for the generous donations we have already received!! Kiely’s treatment continues to be incredibly expensive and if you would like to help Kiely, please use the link below to sponsor her through the link below with All Texas Dachshund Rescue (ATDR). All donations are tax deductible.

Kiely is a gorgeous and incredibly sweet, Silver Dapple Dachshund, rescued in 2020. She had been overbred by an irresponsible breeder which led her to go down in an episode of intervertebral disc disease (IVDD), a degenerative spine disorder. This little fighter spent the next year, living as an inpatient at Safari Veterinary Clinic, being treated with stem cells and rehabilitation to help regain function in her hind end and allow her to walk again.

Kiely met her forever foster Lizzy, in February 2021 when Lizzy took her own dog to Safari for treatment of his IVDD. In April, Kiely went home with her as an ATDR foster and has since
become a full time member of the family. She still faces a lot of difficulties with mobility, but can wobble walk and has adapted well to her limited functionality. Sadly, Kiely also suffers from anxiety and severe separation anxiety that limits her ability to live life fully.

Her foster mom tells us that over time, they have discovered Kiely is the sweetest girl ever! She loves to play, eat chicken, sunbathe, get scratches and burrow into blankets when she feels comfortable. Unfortunately, they still only see glimpses of this personality from her because of her anxiety. After lengthy discussions with the vet and 18 months of time and exercises to help her, it’s now determined that Kiely requires a behavioral specialist who specializes in separation anxiety.

Kiely’s on going medical and behavioral treatment is incredibly expensive, but crucial to helping her move forward from her past to enjoying a good life with her forever foster family! If you would like to help us help Kiely, please know that no donation is too small, as every single dollar counts!
