Rescue is hard. Physically and emotionally. It gets depressing and hard to carry on at times. We miss out on family events. Our families turn against us because they don't understand. We take it one day at a time with lots of prayers for a better tomorrow.

If you choose to rescue animals, I am going to give you some sound advice - Grow thick skin and don’t care what people think of you. I have known people to lose the battle with their minds and we just lost a kind, caring individual in my rescue network. Compassion fatigue is real, but nothing is worth your life. No pet. No rescue. No person’s opinion. Nothing.

In rescue, that person that tells you what an angel you are and how wonderful you are every time you pick up a stray pet thrown at their door will also be the first person who tells people how your organization is worthless when you don’t have space to pick up the 30th pet thrown off on their property. It’s ok.

In rescue, the adopter that leaves you the five star review about how wonderful everyone has been will change that review quick when they return the pet even though you have spent hours trying to keep it in their home. One star reviews are ok.

In rescue, your friend will be your friend until you deny their application for a pet because they are a great friend but a terrible pet owner. That’s ok too.

In rescue, you will answer 143 calls in a day (yesterday to be exact). But if you miss 6 calls in a row while you are in the shower, you will be the one who “never answers their phone”. It’s ok.

In rescue, other rescuers and random trolls will judge everything you do but never have time to pitch in a hand to help when they see something needing more attention. They will, however, have lots of time to talk about how they’d do it better while they harass and judge you. It will be ok.

In rescue, you will have to involve animal control and the police department sometimes. The people who you take pets from will hate you - and I mean REALLY hate you. Trust me, it’s ok.

In rescue, pets will be put down and pets will die at the hands of abusers. We can’t save them all - and that’s ok. We save the ones that we can and pray for peace for the ones we can’t.

Please help! Our bank account is very low. We need money for yearly vaccines and vet visits. This month and July our dogs need their shots. It's the law they have to have rabies shots or they will shut us down. The other shots keeps them healthy. It's $50 per dog for all vaccines and heartworm test. Any amount will help. We have 28 dogs. You can use paypal [email protected] or mail 717 Cherokee Rd, Pelzer, SC 29669-9141.
Thank you for your help. 🐾💕🙏🏼💗

This has been a very sad week for us. Spike our oldest resident (20 yrs) passed away on Monday. He came to us by way of another rescue. I was called in May 2017 to pick him up after his owner was sent to prison. I was to be his foster. When I saw him for the first time he had a spike collar on like you would see on a Doberman. Here was this little 10 lbs Chihuahua with this collar on, I cracked up laughing. That's how he came about his name. He was a very special dog. He wouldn't get in your lap unless you told him he could. He would sit at your feet looking at you, waiting. As he got older he developed heart disease. In his final days he had a hard time walking to go outside. I would pick him up and he would growl softly to let me know he didn't want me to do that. Like he was saying, I can do it. The night before he died he let me pick him up and laid him back in my arms. He had never done this before. Like I said, he didn't want to be picked up. I knew then time must be close. Then Monday he was breathing really hard. I called Martin's Veterinary Services to take him in, he passed out in my arms before we got there. They put him on oxygen but it was too late. He was gone. Rest in peace my sweet mama's boy. Run free my sweet one until I can meet you at the rainbow bridge. I will always remember you and love you.

Sammy came to us from Charleston in May 2022. He is 11 years old Chiweenie (Chihuahua/Dachshund mix). He has the sweetest personality and loves to be loved on. He gets alone well with other dogs. He is up to date with vaccines and on heartworm and flea prevention. He would love to have a forever, inside home. If you think he would fit in at your home, please email us at [email protected] to request an application. A home visit, vet reference and fenced yard is required. If you have other pets they are required to be spayed/neutered and up to date on vaccines, on flea prevention and heartworm negative.

My lil' Peanut died in my arms this morning. I was fostering for another rescue and Peanut was part of a hoarding situation.
I've had him since 2016. They age so fast. His heart murmur was 5/6 just a month ago. My heart is hurting so bad. I miss him so much. RIP my sweet baby. Mommy loves you.

Reed was able to have his eye surgery paid for by Second Chances for Blind Dogs charity. Thank you to everyone that donated to this charity.

Does anyone know of a group that helps blind dogs with medical bills. Reed has an appointment this afternoon about an eye infection and I'm afraid it will need to be removed and we don't have enough money to pay for it.
