It's the time of year where we get together with family and friends and celebrate the holidays. We naturally want to include our pets but safety needs to come first to avoid an unplanned visit to the veterinary emergency clinic or worse. The article below highlights many safety tips and precautions to be taken. Please take the time to read and share and let's let the worse thing to happen this season be the antics of crazy Uncle Moe as he repeats stories of the "old days" and then brings up politics.๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ˜ฒ๐Ÿค•

December abounds with holiday celebrations, and nothing can spoil good cheer like an emergency trip to the veterinary clinic. These tips can help keep the winter holiday season safe for pets.

A great way to say โ€œThank Youโ€ to our military veterans. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

The Gary Sinise Foundation has established the Hero Companion Care Fund at the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, which will help cover the cost of veterinary care for service dogs of active and veteran military families. โœจ

โ€œThe College of Veterinary Medicine is proud to work with the Gary Sinise Foundation on meeting the needs of military families in financial need,โ€ said Lorin D. Warnick, D.V.M., Ph.D. โ€™94, the Austin O. Hooey Dean of Veterinary Medicine. โ€œThis gift provides highly valued support and we recognize the foundationโ€™s thoughtfulness and generosity to meet this important need in our region.โ€

Cornell will serve as the Northeast hub for the foundation. Beginning Nov. 3, the Hero Companion Care Fund will augment the costs of veterinary care through hospitals and programs run by Cornell. It will also help facilitate affordable veterinary clinics in the Northeast specifically for the military community.

A 2024 study in the Journal of the American Medical Association found that service dogs are an effective way of reducing military service-related PTSD among veterans.
