Remember Matilda? She was in recently and was such a good girl for her appointment. Her family took her to the Keuka Arts Festival this past weekend for exercise and that all important puppy socialization. Mattie admitted it was a lot of fun but a bit tiring so a little time in some loving arms was definitely appreciated. 🤗🐾❤️

LVTs Annie and Beth had things under control with 12 week old Bassett Hound pup, Matilda, until assistance was needed from LVT Erika. Matilda's LONG and very silky ears were being splattered from her treat and had to be extended out to avoid a mess! This beautiful little girl had a great experience getting her vaccinations and nails trimmed and we can't wait to see her again as she grows! 🐾❤️🐾
Maddie is our our own Business Office manager, Rhonda's, beloved 15 year old Cockapoo. She had been doing poorly with arthritis and a torn ACL. In 2023, the FDA approved the first Monoclonal Antibody for dogs and it was given to Maddie to help her mobility. For her and her family, it was a positive change as she is getting around with much less pain as you can see in the before and after videos below. Monoclonal Antibody treatment for dogs and cats is not for every patient, but it is worth speaking with your veterinarian if you have concerns about your pet. 9 week old Great Dane, Tito, was in to see Dr. Fahnestock for his puppy check, vaccinations, and toenail trim. Keeping all care at his level gave the adorable pup added assurances that all was ok and some treats helped with making toe nail trimming a breeze. This is so important as Tito is obviously going to get a lot larger! We will enjoy watching him grow. 🤗🐾❤️

On May 1, 2024, YCPH held a cats only rabies clinic at the Yates County Maintenance Building! We were able to vaccinate 69 cats. Thank you to all public health staff and MRC volunteers who helped work the clinic, to Eastview Veterinary Clinic, PC for vaccinating, and thank you to the Yates County Buildings and Grounds Department for allowing us to use the space and for helping set up. Svenley is modeling a Gentle Leader head collar. Many folks struggle on walks with their dogs pulling, jumping, or lunging, and a Gentle Leader is a good option to try to make walks more enjoyable for all. It is not like a muzzle in any way as the pressure is put on the back of the neck and dogs can still eat, drink and play with their favorite toy when it is on. Duncan, a 6 year old red bone mix is not fond of having his nails trimmed. His mom, LVT Hannah, is trying a new puzzle which requires Duncan to scratch at a board designed to file down his nails. It didn't take him long to figure out that scratching/filing led to a treat and he's all in! Because of his size, it will take a little longer to see desired results but it will take less time on small to medium dogs. Regular use should keep those nails nicely filed with a very positive experience for all. EVC will be stocking these soon! 🐾🐾🐾

Our treatment team had an excellent time training on our new digital dental unit. According to the AVMA, most dental disease occurs beneath the gum line which makes conditions like tooth root abscesses difficult to see. Overall jaw health and tooth roots can be evaluated and the information used to develop a comprehensive treatment plan. We are excited to have this new technology for our patients! 🦷
We have exciting news for May! On Saturday mornings, May 4th, 11th, and 18th, we will be holding office hours for vaccination appointments. These fill up quickly and also give us more opportunities to have sick appointments available during the week. Please call to reserve your slot and remember to mark it on your calendar. Our team is always looking for new ways to make our patients comfortable with procedures. Nail trimming is tough for some so Dr. Pinkey wanted to try an idea that's been going viral on FB. 🤷🏼♀️ LVT Beth's sweet pup, Dolly, was in the clinic that day and got to be the guinea pig. The jury is still out on this one...😳🤣🤦🏼♀️
Dogs also benefit from food puzzles as Chip demonstrates. He gets an immediate reward from solving the puzzle and is engaged for quite a while using both mental and physical skills. Great job, Chippers!!! 🐕❤️🐾

They are a great way to engage kitties and give them something fun to do with a food reward. 9 year old Minnie loves her interactive toy and it is a great way to keep her active as the days get shorter and a bit gloomier. There are many types available! 🐈⬛🌧🐾
The warm weather is here and what a great opportunity to get out with your dog and, well, you know... Yes, this is "the talk we all hate". Most dogs can afford to lose some weight for their own health benefit. We've heard all the excuses - "He's big boned", She has very thick fur", It's his winter fat" "She's smaller than her parents" and, of course, "I don't think he weighs that much!" We all love our pets and want to do the best for them and one of the best things we can do is keep their weight down to give them the best chance of being with us as long as they can. Chip struggled with his weight this winter so his mom got creative. In addition to adding more exercise she lowered his food volume and made it fun to eat! Good puzzles are a great way for dogs to work their brain and get a little physical activity while eating. Chip has several food puzzle toys… in fact he doesn’t have a regular food dish! Great job, Chip (and mom)!! ❤️🐾
Anyone who has cats knows they are wonderful pets but can be a bit...persnickety. Sir Charles is well loved but also knows he can call the shots at times. When he decided he would no longer drink from his water dish and wanted only to drink from a dripping faucet, his owner was concerned he would not be getting enough to keep him properly hydrated when away for any period of time. (And it was also getting a little old being woken up in the middle of the night when Sir Charles was thirsty 😳) Dr. Fahnestock recommended a pet drinking fountain which has this kitty excited about drinking solo again! 🐈💦❤️

Everyone who has a cat knows they pretty much run the house. LVT Annie's clever kitty, Squidward, has made himself in charge of when the lights go out in her home. He's only a year old and Annie is pretty sure he'll be taking control of other things as well! 🐈❤️
We love everything about LVT Patty but do question her taste in music. Thankfully, kittens, Siri and Alexa, recognized her flaw and refused to comply with her request! 😂🤗
