For all those who think, "y'all have the best job, just play'n with dogs all day." We do have the best job, BUT, this profession is so much more than playing with dogs, from reading body language to communicating how important it is to start regular grooming/touch/desensitization from a young age... And I didn't even mention the process of the groom itself! This is where I hesitate to express, dogs who are family members, "the baby", spoiled, unsocialized or sensitive... They all have teeth and they all have the same capabilities. This profession is for a person who is detail oriented, keen on reading body language and sensitive to the needs of the dog. I was NOT lucky in this picture, I read this dog's body language and that is why my arm is behind my back before he lunged towards me. This is the perfect example to create awareness of the importance of starting with regular training/grooming from a young age. This is what people do not get to see about our profession, but I feel it's important. The owner of this dog was in disbelief of what I expressed happened but did not dismiss the concerns, instead he proactively stepped in to take his place as this dogs leader/owner/alpha. Your dog needs to know you are their leader and this German Shepherd does actually know who his leader is and was very respectful with me while his owner was present for the groom. A Dog Groomers profession is to maintain, we are not dog trainers, though we do know some tricks to get us by... It's never too late to work with your dog, the experience level of a trainer might need to be seasoned, LoL. -the owner of this dog gave me permission to use this picture for this intended purpose and I would like everyone to remain respectful. This breed has many purposes, he is true to his purpose and it was a delight to find this picture to send to him and share with everyone.

Pups in a bucket, our LGDs are Great Pyrenees and they work! We have not suffered any losses to the precedent coyotes near our farm, these boys will be huge. Work best in pairs.
