Winifred, the stray that was roaming Lacon for at least the last month, was caught in this trap set by The Ark animal shelter, yesterday. Unfortunately, i didn't get a video of the trap closing so I'm sharing this video of her the night before. Thank you to The Ark for securing her and taking her into their facility where she has a great shot of finding her loving, forever family (after the stray hold is over). She's in good hands.
I would like to thank my friend, Sarah, for sitting with her while she was in the trap, until transportation could get there.

OWNER FOUND! Thank you all for sharing.
On 1/8/25, we brought in an approximately 6-month-old puppy with multiple lacerations on her arms and legs. She is a female, black and white, mixed-breed dog. She had no chip or collar. She was brought in from Creve Coeur after being found on the side of the road. Due to the nature of her injuries, we do not have an intake picture of her full body. However, the picture below is of her face. If you or someone you know has any information about what could have happened to this dog, or know someone missing a dog with that description, please call the office at 309-925-3370. Thank you šŸ¾

My great friend, Philip, is doing great work with his rescue efforts. He jokingly mentions his drone flying in some towns he goes to will be in the local paper. Well, here he is! Good job in Peotone!

Drones have gotten a bad rep lately, with no shortage of peculiar UFO-type sightings and conspiracy theories coloring the perception of low-flying unmanned aerial vehicles. What people may not realize, however, is the FAA-licensed drone flying above might be on a special mission to bring a lost pet....

**Lost Dog Recovery Story: Lesterā€™s Journey Home**

Today, we were called out to help find Lester, a sweet little dog who had gotten loose from his foster parents in Peoria. After driving around the neighborhood where he was last seen for a couple of hours, we received a call that Lester had been spotted a mile or two away in a different neighborhood.

When we arrived, we found a chaotic sceneā€”multiple people were chasing him, and Animal Control was on-site trying to capture him. Frustrated with the situation, Animal Control decided to call it quits. But we knew that with a little patience, we could still bring Lester home.

We hung around, hoping the area would settle down. Sure enough, Lester reappeared, and we saw him running toward a house near an intersection where we had parked. He paused, clearly trying to decide what to do next, when something caught our attention. The foster dad drove right past us, whistling for Lester out the window. Unfortunately, he didn't notice us, but Lester, hearing the whistle, took off after the car.

The car disappeared from view, and Lester stopped a few houses away, unsure of where to go next. At that moment, we called the foster dad, asking him to return. He turned around, parked, and whistled once more. This time, Lester came running up, tail wagging, and jumped right into the car!

It was a beautiful momentā€”Lester was back in the arms of his foster dad, safe and sound. Success!

SAFE! He is back with his foster! Thank you Joe Gienow dor always being awesome and getting him to safety!

***We're looking for a possible rescue and foster for this poor pup. He may have owners -who should know by now that he's at the shelter - but haven't picked him up yet. He's not doing well in the shelter environment (lunging at the employees) due to the fact that it's the shelter environment. With that said, if he overstays his stray hold, then chances for him leaving the shelter to go to his forever home is basically 0. We would like to have a backup plan in place just in case.
As you can tell, he was quite well behaved for us in the outdoors and vehicle environment. He's roughly 2 years old - neutered - no other known vetting known at this time - no idea how he is with other dogs or cats. If your rescue is interested then please reach out to us here, we will provide transport depending on distance. *This is IF the owners don't pick him up before the stray hold is over.*

I've been hearing about a stray dog in the Illinois Route 8 - Heinz Lane area a few times this week. A big thank you to Jessica, and especially to the landowner, who was an incredible host during our efforts to help this dog.

We set up a trap yesterday evening, carefully baited it, and then left the area. Jessica's husband returned later that night to close the trap, but, of course, the dog showed up an hour afterwards. He enjoyed a hearty meal but returned the next morning to find no food waiting for him, so he settled down on the landowner's porch.

I went back to bait the trap again and left. To my delight, this handsome pup ventured into the trap just 45 minutes later. Heā€™s now safe at PCAPS, where we hope his owners will come to bring him home.

**Thank you again, Jessica and the landowner šŸ˜
***Special thank you to Tad Newell for assisting me by helping get the dog out of the trap, safely.
