HONDO served not only as Chaplain Samaniego's Service Dog, but a legacy of selfless service, unwavering empathy, compassion, and grace. As God's entrusted instrument, HONDO stood by Chaplain Samaniego's side.
During a swearing-in ceremony at Premont City Hall on December 12, 2023, HONDO and his handler, Premont PD Chaplain Mario Samaniego, became an integral part of Premont Police Department and community, inspiring hope and unity. HONDO served as a Crisis/Therapy K-9 at Premont PD for over a year, touching hearts and minds at Premont ISD, community events, and even providing solace to our officers after challenging shifts. HONDO proudly wore his Premont PD badge, serving as a shining example of devotion.
Chaplain Samaniego and HONDO have blessed our Texas communities with their remarkable gifts. They deployed to assist during the Uvalde tragedy and stood strong in numerous times of crisis. Both Chaplain Samaniego and HONDO honored Premont PD at the funerals of fallen officers throughout South Texas.
HONDO assisted Chaplain Samaniego as a member of the Edinburg Police Clergy and spent considerable time spreading joy at Driscoll Children's Hospital, comforting staff, children, and families during difficult times.
Above all, when HONDO wasn't working, he reveled in the simple joys of life, running the golf course with his Kong Toy, chasing birds, and basking in the love of his family, including his brother Maxumus and sister Zivah, who also served in Uvalde with TXDPS and Crisis K9s His memory will continue to uplift and inspire, reminding us of the profound impact of selfless service and unconditional love.
And Above All Hondo loved his papa and mama.
Friends and Family.. I have hated to ask but I do need your collective support now, and whatever donation you can offer will be a tremendous blessing to Hondos memory
