ISO perfect family
Update 02/05 (week and a half mark)- Calli is the perfect dog for a VERY active family. She absolutely LOVES friendly playful dogs, but she does play like a big dog and her playmates should be at least 45 pounds or bigger.
She is crate trained though it isn't her favorite
She is housetrained
She needs to run a lot
She LOVES to hang out on the couch or snuggle in bed but is just as happy on the floor.
Children will be ok but due to her size and needs children should be over 5 years old and have a healthy respect for a dog's space etc.
Prefer indoor outdoor home w/lots of activity

Calli has been here 24 hours. She is likely a purebred Catahoula Leopard Dog and close to 2 years old. She is fully vetted with current, age appropriate vaccinations and was spayed/chipped yesterday.

Shows no interest in cats (so far)
Walks well on a collar and lead
stays close/heels

Respectful of the house mostly
Doesnt counter surf
So far leaves the trash alone
Can be handled all over
Unbelievably soft coat

Excellent entry level Catahoula
Very attentive and attached at the hip

Shows no desire to engage livestock (pigs, sheep, goats)

Doesnt really bark
Somewhat passive (so far) with other animals and people

Cons
Hates the crate...she screams. Not just any scream either. We'll be working on this while she is here. This is only when a person is in the same room. She's fine when you leave the room.
She doesnt like to potty while on the leash
Jumps on people but gently
Possible separation anxiety but can be worked on
Probably wont be a hunting or herding dog
Overall analysis
Calli is a very well behaved dog. She has her little buttons and doesnt seem to push boundaries. If she is insecure about anything she will lay down. She doesn't pull or try to run away but she is about 60 # and hard to move if she's afraid. She only growls at the other dogs if she is crated and feels trapped but it is not an aggressive growl if that makes sense
The perfect human will understand the needs of high drive working breeds
Will have a large yard or access to large areas to play (dog park etc)
She needs a person that has a lot of time to spend with her..
Her person might look like:
A hiker or outdoors person
Retired person with an active lifestyle
Veteran with active lifestyle
Active family with one or two kind dogs about her size
Person who works from home ir short hours away or can take her to work and has ample time to be with her.
Jobs she might like
Farm or ranch dog
Office dog
Suitable for service and canine good citizen training
Would make a great support dog for elderly, hospitalized, or veteran hospital visits
Might do well in scentwork or S&R
Active companion
Someone put a lot of work ibto this dog and it shows. She's an incredible dog and deserves the perfect forever home
