WELLINGTON HAY UPDATE FROM PBEC: There is concern in Wellington, Florida, about horses presenting with swollen legs, fevers, and laminitis. At this time, it appears there is a potential toxin (testing is pending) causing these symptoms from hay sourced from a first cutting of Timothy/Alfalfa hay from Michigan. If you have horses experiencing these symptoms or have concerns, please call us at 561-793-1599. Everyone please be aware!!!

There is hay coming out of Michigan that is Timothy and Timothy/alfalfa blend which contains a highly toxic w**d to horses. Hoary alyssum shows up in horses as swelling in the legs and a high temperature.

There are currently four horses that have passed away and up to 40 more that are under vet supervision in Wellington, FL at the moment due to hay containing these w**ds.

Alabama Hay Company has NO hay from these areas, nor have we carried any hay from this area in the past, but please be aware of hay coming from other sources.
