Full circle moment this past weekend. Judged a horse show at the same place where I rode in my first horse show with Peppermint Patty in 1990! Brought back so many memories ❤️

✨TRAINER TIP ✨ One of my biggest pet peeves as a judge is twisted reins and I see them ALL the time. Trainers, please check your kids’ reins before they go in the ring.

👋Also, if their horse or pony goes in a Pelham, double check that the snaffle rein is on top and they know how to properly hold both reins.

⭐️In an effort to make more trainers, riders, and parents aware of why judges score and judge the way we do, I’m going to start sharing some USEF rules and good scoring practices. Since I am a USEF judge I choose to follow their general rules when judging, regardless if a show is rated or not.⭐️

So, here’s my first USEF Rule Book Reminder….

✳️HU109.6 - No course may have exhibitors trotting or cantering through the in-gate or out-gate; any exhibitor choosing to trot or canter through the in-gate or out-gate will be eliminated.

So basically, if you trot or canter through the in-gate, you are immediately eliminated ❌.

This rule is in place for the safety of all horses and exhibitors.👍

Had a lovely weekend judging June Fete on Saturday and at Blue Valley on Sunday! Both shows were run so well and had some lovely horses and riders. Derbies were fun too!

Every sport takes hard work and dedication. All my years of riding gave me a great foundation for learning how to be resilient, consistent, dedicated and tough. I remember riding anything and everything, and having an endless thirst for knowledge when it came to horses.🐴

Now at 43, I have used those lessons to do something I never thought I could…run a half marathon. 🏃‍♀️ And through it all, I had an amazing coach that I trusted and listened to whole-heartedly ❤️ (Michael Fitzpatrick & Tru Endurance = the best!)

So, set a goal, work hard, listen to your coach/trainer and go get it done. Hard work and a thirst for learning can make things you thought impossible to be within your reach! 🏅🌟

Sheer Chance Stable LLC is pleased to welcome Cynthia Hankins to our farm on September 11 and 12, 2021 as our first clinician at our new location!

Cynthia Hankins was a junior equitation star, having placed in the top ten of several equitation finals before winning the American Horse Show Association Medal Finals in 1975. Cynthia has spent much of her professional career traveling between the United States and France, where she rode and trained at a top breeding farm. Many of her students have gone on to become successful professionals within the hunter/jumper industry.

Cynthia holds a USEF R-rated judge's license in both Hunter and Hunter Seat Equitation, has judged numerous shows in the U.S. and France, and several equitation finals including the 2011 American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Maclay Finals at the National Horse Show in Lexington, KY.

We will have limited spots to non-SCS riders and auditors. If you have interest please contact us early to ensure your clinic time!

This is a 2 day clinic with flat/cavaletti/gymnastics the first day and adding onto that with more jumping the second day.
