Another kitten rescue. This time was especially annoying because the people had reached out to me two weeks ago about newborns and I told them not to separate them from mom. I told them that I would come to trap mom and babies in order to keep them together. Unfortunately they refused to tell me where mom was located, and decided to bottle feed on their own.

Today, they sent me text messages to come help. Two kittens had died already. A third’s heart stopped but they were able to resuscitate him. They told me it was just too much to deal with the death and that they would finally let me take them into rescue. But they still refused to tell me where mom was located.

These rescues are bittersweet. Obviously I am glad the kittens get to go to a great rescue (Lucky Dawg Animal Rescue) thanks to The Cat Collaborative. But I am so sad for poor mom who had her babies ripped away, and who will keep having babies since she wasn’t spayed. Sigh.

Giving an update on this project- thank you to everyone who has donated so far!

In celebration of , I decided to do a challenge to clean 100 bags of trash from streets- most of this came from francisville and temple area. I’ll be honest- it was exhausting to do this on top of everything else I have going on. On top of my full time job and the trash cleaning, thanks to , I also trapped 60 adult cats and 9 kittens, transported cats to our pet clinic every Tuesday, and fostered 4-5 cats as they got better from sicknesses.

Every day, animal rescuers give it their all to help animals in need- this month was especially draining. But fundraisers like this one are necessary to pay the medical bills of the cats we trap that are sick or injured! On Saturday, Lina cleaned up the final bag of trash for our month long fundraiser. We will make another post soon with some final thoughts, but wanted to make sure we updated everyone since today is the official end date of the challenge! On Thursday I was cleaning trash when a man named Fred stopped. He offered to help me clean, and brought a shovel along! He is 65 years old and tries to do a kind thing every day. With his help, we cleaned another 16 bags of trash off the streets! Thank you Fred ❤️

Handsome special boy Grimm was adopted ! this fiv+ boy was not only super handsome he is polydactyl ! Those extra toes made us all swoon! Happy life sweet Grimm!

More good news today! Ángela and pepita both went to a foster home together! Thank you Lisa Muñiz and Lucky You Animal Rescue for taking both of them. It’s always sad to see them go to a new home (foster or adoptive), but I know they are going to have so much fun with the new cats and more space!

Lina found this spot when trapping cats and was just amazed by how much trash there was! She went there Sunday and spent 3-4 hours cleaning, and managed to clean 10 bags of trash from this area. Unfortunately there is still a bunch to do, but she will be back!

This brings the total to 24 bags cleaned so far! The goal is to clean 100 bags of trash in one month, and collect donations to support a local nonprofit Philadelphia Urgent Rescue & Relief, Inc - PURR. Spent more than 3 hours this morning cleaning up 10 bags of trash! The picture below might not look like much, but it filled up more than half a bag.

These 10 bags came from just 3 short blocks in 19121. There is so much more trash out there, and we will be back to pick some more up! And we are off!! First bag of the month cleaned up this morning on the way to work. North 7th street, you are a little cleaner today!!

Also saw this sign in a lot that had a lot of litter in it, so I will be back to clean it another day! I didn’t have enough time before work today to do more. There is still time to make a pledge to donate through the link in the comments!

We are all recovering from colds here (including this foster, Fairy) but we are also very excited that the trash cleanup up challenge starts TOMORROW!! 🤩🤩🤩

We are trying our best to make spay/neuters accessible for EVERYONE in Philadelphia, and are working through the many people who are asking for help. We are working on a hoarder house currently that is pretty awful. The hoarder died a few weeks ago and her friend now has to deal with all the cars. There are tons of cats in the house that go in and out, and none of them were fixed! However, we didn’t have good numbers on how many cats there really were. Our friends let us borrow a trail camera and it has been really helpful to try to keep track of how many cats there are at the spot! And it has convinced us that we should have one of these too. They are even on sale now! Would anyone be willing to donate to help us get one (or two)? They cost $99.98.

The 3 cats pictured here are the first lucky ones to get fixed and one is hopefully going to rescue!

January Update!��We are starting 2023 with a bang! In January we trapped 63 cats! We also have a bunch of fosters, so we wanted to do a Foster Roundup!

Between the two of us we have 11 fosters, with 1 FELV+ and 3 FIV+ cats. We love being able to help all of these cats, but having this many cats means that we go through a TON of litter. Sometimes you trap a pregnant cat to bring in to tnr the next day and you get a whole lot more than you bargained for. This sweet lady was left behind when her owners moved. She got pregnant and I was going to bring her into clinic today, but the babies had other plans! They are looking for rescue placement. I’m just glad that at least they were born inside and warm rather than out in this freezing cold!

I was out looking for a pregnant cat today when I saw this little guy limping in front of a house. It looks like he was bit by something. I asked the person who lived there- he used to be her cat and she put him out because she doesn’t want him anymore. She didn’t care that he was hurt and said she doesn’t take care of him anymore and doesn’t want him on her porch. I have nowhere for him to go so I will have to bring him to acct in a few hours if I can’t find placement before then- he is in my car now. I really am worried they would return him and he clearly should not be returned. Please help!

Unfortunately, this is the reality for kittens born outside. They can be totally flea invested and anemic. When we go bring these kittens into our homes, we have to treat the fleas because otherwise our houses will get invested too. Normally I try to give kittens flea baths, but when they are this bad, I give them a capstar in order to make sure all the fleas are killed.

But- capstar is expensive! We buy it from abroad for $21.50 for 6 tablets. But the litter I brought in last night already used up my whole stash. If 12 people donate $5 each we could get about 18 tablets! Thanks for considering! You can also find capstar on our Amazon wishlist but it is much more expensive.
