Keep long walks to the early mornings or late evenings when the sun isn't so oppressive. Never leave your dog unattended outdoors. Always offer shelter and water when outdoors.

Below are common signs of distress caused by heat:
- Excessive panting, heavy/difficult breathing
- Weakness, listlessness, collapse
- Excessive drooling
- CRITICAL SYMPTOMS: vomiting, diarrhea accompanied with other symptoms
