We had a miscommunication at the vet so Ducky will be having her dental Friday instead of today... which is good because it gives us a couple more days to fundraise! It's hard to imagine that had so many people not come through with pledges for Kenny, allowing me to pull him from the shelter, he could have been euthanized this morning. He is a gorgeous tabby, young, incredibly sweet and tolerant, playful. He's going to make someone/a family so very happy ❤️

It's true what people say about rescuing adult cats - they just seem so grateful. It's such a different feeling, but it's beautiful to see that they can trust and love again after going through abuse, neglect, and struggling to survive on the streets.

So, thank you again for helping me save this sweet angel of a cat. Thank you for making it possible to repair his leg.

If you want to send anything for Kenny, we need adult cat food, and since Kenny seems to enjoy cat nip (and will need weeks of rest after surgery), I added some toys to our wishlist as well 🥰

Handsome boy hopes everyone has a safe and happy New Year's Eve. His surgery to repair his back leg is scheduled for next week. He has been a very sweet boy so far - loving pets, rolling around showing his cute belly... he just doesn't like me for a few minutes after I give him his pain meds 🥺 and he refuses to use his cozy bed - silly boy!

I AM IN LOVE. Kenny started making biscuits the moment I opened his carrier and I instantly fell in love with his beautiful eyes and incredibly handsome tabby face. He was oohed and ahhed over and is now lounging in his cozy kennel.

A couple of notes from comments I have seen:

• Yes, there is another cat named Peter who is also timestamped for 12/31 and who also has a broken leg. Choosing between him and Kenny broke my heart, but financially we can only support one medical case and I'm already squeezing cats together to make space for Kenny as I have no fosters or offers to foster. I hate it and feel an abundance of guilt about leaving any cat behind.

• Yes, $4-6,000 is a lot of money and yes there may be more affordable veterinary options. There are a lot of things to take into consideration - the fracture itself and how booked out more affordable vets may be for example. I will call around for options and do what's in the best interest of Kenny. Also, if we can save his leg - we're going to save it. That's just how I chose to run my rescue.

Questions are always welcome. Accusations, mean, or drama-inducing comments will just be removed.

PLEDGES. This is Kenny. He is timestamped for euthanasia 12/31 just like Charlie was. However, his medical needs are much more costly - in my experiences with repairing fractures, the cost is anywhere from $4,000-$6,000. Let me be clear: Charlie's Army does not have the funding, but I have been asked numerous times about pulling Kenny so I'm posting to see if it's even remotely possible to raise the money and save him.

A pledge is a promise to donate. Please do not donate until the animal is confirmed to be in my care. He currently has $500 in pledges through the shelter pledge form, and I have just over $300 that was donated for Charlie. You can pledge in the comments or message me directly.

Please remember this is just me trying. I can't commit to saving an animal who needs medical care if we do not have the funds to care for them.

Happy adoption day, Shake Shack! Our wobbly CH charmer has found a forever home. His new sister also has CH and is named Shakes, so Shake Shack will go by Shaq... this was one of those perfect matches and a wonderful way to end 2024 (unless someone wants to swoop in and adopt Henri and Hermione... that would really be an amazing way to end this year!)

How about some good news? Robbie seems to have fully recovered from whatever head trauma he endured. He is such a sweet little guy, full of purrs, eating on his own, using his litter box, and being a cute tabby baby.

Thank you for pledging and sharing and allowing me to save him. Without you, I may not have been able to pull him and he very well could have been euthanized (he truly wasn't in the best shape at the shelter). But that's what Charlie's Army does - gives kittens like Robbie a chance.

Cora is the perfect kitten. I'm so sad she had to go back into quarantine when she just got out. At least she has a friend and hopefully, she won't develop ringworm.

Everyone was bathed using lime sulfur today, and they'll continue to be bathed with it every 3 days for a minimum of 2 weeks. After the two weeks, I like to switch to an antifungal shampoo twice a week (unless the ringworm is severe or still glowing) for the remainder of treatment. Lime sulfur stinks, but it is the ONLY proven topical treatment that sterilizes the fur to prevent further ringworm growth and reduces the number of spores spread into the environment.

I couldn't do any of this without my best friend and Charlie's Army board member, Cam. Especially today where I have been one-handed thanks to a bad cat bite I sustained yesterday.

Day one down.

I would love to find a foster for my tabby twins. They've been in their incubator since arrival so have not been exposed to ringworm. They're outgrowing their little bubble and would love more space to explore and be kittens.

They do eat 3-4 times a day and will need a baby wipe cleanup afterward since they get a little messy. They're using their litter box and are super sweet babies. 6 weeks old. Supplies can be provided as needed. Located in Philadelphia PA. Charliesarmy.com/foster

I am not okay right now. Not at all. Not just because I found ringworm on Pancake and Meg tonight after we just started putting things/my apartment back together (and let Cora and Batman out), but also because there was an extremely traumatic event on Sunday and because my Dad has been hospitalized for over a month and will never be the same again. Everything feels like it's just one thing after another and I am so tired. I rarely post like this, but this has been the most exhausting and traumatic year and I just want a sense of normalcy and happiness again.

I need help. I have to start all over again with ringworm cleaning and treatment. Somehow something got missed. Everyone has to be dipped. Everything has to be disinfected again. FOSTER NEEDED... so we don't have to put him back outside after he is neutered and vaccinated tomorrow. We can't save them all, but we can try... if anyone can open their home to a big handsome orange boy, please reach out ASAP. And yes, after recovery, if no one can foster him, he will be returned outside. We hate it, too... but it's the harsh reality 😩

Meg Seeks A Forever Home!

To learn more about Meg, please see the post before this one. Meg has a condition called Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH). CH has a wide range of severity and symptoms - Meg is mild. She has constant tremors that make her look like she's dancing or a little bobblehead, but she is coordinated enough to walk, run, jump, and climb. She can also eat without any assistance or mess. Meg is seeking her forever home! See my previous post for more info.

I think it's fair to say I just can't resist a tabby 😍 welcome to these sweet babies! Thank you to Kolony Kats for facilitating their rescue! Boy/girl pair... leave some name suggestions!
